You should consider cataloguing! It’s fun to see different collections and I love being able to just use a simple app to look up, scan barcodes, search artists, etc. It takes a minute to get used to it and realistically you’re looking at probably a couple hours of time to get it all in there... but once it’s there it can be cool to check out every once in a while and see if maybe x record jumped in value and you could probably sell it for a good chunk. Plus, after the initial overwhelming set up, keeping it up to date is really simple because as soon as a record arrives at your doorstep you can scan it with your phone and catalogue it! Or of course if you’re at a physical store too.

Can someone point me in the right direction for these live Underoath records? I’m clicking the posted links, but they’re dead. Don’t see them on their Facebook.

Okay, so I’m in the market for new speakers. I’ve basically just used some really old bookcase speakers to go along with my audio technica player and Sony receiver. I need something smaller for where I’m at with my set up. What can I do for cheap and smallish footprint? I think computer speakers may be the path depending on how small I have to go but prefer not to for sound quality reasons

    I’m wondering this too.

I think I have between 100-150 records but have considered thinning the herd a bit. When you sell, do they have the vinyl mailers readily available at the post office or do people just save em?

Not sure what you call cheap and smallish but I have these and they get LOUD.

Since I’ve started selling a few months ago I’ve been keeping the mailers I receive my ordered records in. Otherwise my local shop sells them for cheap.

  13. Lmao. That’s annoying. I definitely already requested to cancel. Guess we’ll see what happens whenever they’re “officially” announced, not gonna bother with it until then

What’s the first record you ever got? I saw Portugal the Man in 2011 and snagged The Satanic Satanist from their merch table. I loved the packaging and I’ve been reckless with my money ever since

I think it was The 59 Sound. Either that or The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place.

Mine was a bent copy of I Told You I Was Freaky by Flight Of The Conchords and I truly should have just stopped there.

Mine was a grey variant OG pressing of Thursday- Five Stories Falling. My first 7” was that Thursday/Thrice Clear split For the Workforce, Drowning/Under the Killing Moon.

Discog is my current home. I had a google sheet that I filled out and I just kept neglecting it til eventually it was so out of date that I had to move on. The discogs app is pretty easy to use- I have an iPhone, not sure how or if it runs on an android. Obviously you can also go on your computer and access it too. I used to do deadformat until that website stopped existing.

what I usually do is I will scan the barcode on the back of an album I own and discogs, for the most part, will find a list of pressings that most match that UPC. I think it’s really easy for indie records, but sometimes when you have like a classic rock record that has been pressed 1000 times over its a bit more difficult to find the exact match. Then, it has perks like you know the sale history on the website of that album, so you know that x record usually sells in the $40 range but has sold as low as $30 and as high as $60, and it has links to the record on the marketplace so you know that currently there’s 12 for sale and the cheapest option is $45. I personally find value in that, and it took a minute to get used to but I find it really convenient now.

First for me was Departures’ When Losing Everything is Everything You Wanted. Thought it was a cd. After receiving it I realized why the description said “cherry cola...”
