Ugh I just recently ordered from MerchNOW (Hands Like Houses) and wanted to add something to justify the shipping. If only this had been a few days sooner.

And strangely enough, they're out of Feel Something.

Feel Something sold surprisingly fast. And the /250 variants are already $60+ on Discogs. It’s crazy.

I was 50-50 on Feel Something but it's grown on me recently. Was hoping I could snag one at a later date. Guess at this point I am waiting for a 2nd press. Which I would imagine is likely.

I know there was a tour variant, maybe they’ll put those leftovers online if there is any. But I would imagine they’d have a second press.

  7. My girlfriend loves the *NSYNC Christmas album that came in the mail today. She's on her second spin.

  9. yeah! the record was on sale, so i figured i'd pay the same amount as the regular price by getting 2 day shipping. haha.

I’m strongly considering ordering the The Color Spectrum repress. Because I know if I continue to wait and it ends up selling out, I’m going to be upset.

I usually never double dip, but I’m also tempted to order a second copy of The Red Tree. I have a copy of the red/white RSD version, but I want that 180g repress available on the Dind Alone Webstore. I used to own the box set, but it didn’t really contain anything I just had to have. The gatefold for the standard pressing is already really nice.

Anyone else own more than 1 copy of any record? Variant collectors or just like to have an extra of one you play a lot?

I've been thinking about it myself, but $85 is steep after what I shelled out for The Alchemy Index.

I don’t normally variant collec, but I have a few copies of the same record because I couldn’t decide which variant I liked better.

I’m not a variant collector by any means but I do own entirety of Defeater’s Letters Home pressings sans a test press. I also have a tour press of Caspian’s Dust And Disquiet along with a 180g 2XLP

What is the best and most inexpensive way to display records on the wall?

Not sure about the cheapest but I once saw these 2-piece “frames” you put up which allow you to still pull the record out of the sleeve. I’ve gotta search for em, i liked em a lot. I’d also love something that doesn’t need any holes in the wall if that’s possible...

One of my good friends bought a turntable/setup and has officially started collecting. I'm so excited for him!! He bought a Crosley at first and I was like  so he got an Audio Technica, the LP60 I think.

Just got a record player and a few LPs for Christmas. I really don't know anything but I'm excited to begin learning and collecting.

A few self-imposed rules for my finances sake about collecting

    - I won't care about pressing, original vs repress
    - If I already own an album, I won't purchase a new variant or limited edition
    - If I have already used my budget on vinyl for the month, I will not purchase a record, no matter how badly I want it

This is mostly just to help me focus on a cool and more focused way to experience music, not on collecting physical items.

fuck are Crosley's bad? my family just got me whatever they found at Barnes and Noble I'm pretty sure.

I had one for 2 years before I upgraded to the audio technica, and honestly for listening to records in my bedroom it was fine. There's definitely better options but, for what I needed it for it was perfect and a lot of people said it damaged their records, I've never noticed anything wrong with the records that got constant spins on the crosley.

It's fine for beginners but records will not sound great. I would save up for a better setup whenever you can

I think the real problem with low-end stuff like Crosley is the potential to damage your LPs, or at least degrade them at a much faster rate than you would using a decent setup. Probably not the end of the world if you're a casual/infrequent listener and aren't playing any rare pressings, but you'd want to think about upgrading in the medium term for sure.

So you guys would recommend Audio Technica?

i personally wouldn't go below an AT-LP120 or a uturn orbit

any turntable with built in speakers is bad, you'll need a speaker and a receiver as well
