I may be going broke, but I'm never broken down. Prestigious

Check out the ikea kalex, comes in different configurations depending on the space you have. I've seen plenty other companies come out with similar units as well so you def have options in that. I have the old version which was the expedit in a 2x4 configuration running length wise. Holds my entire collection (300ish records?) Plus some books.

Each cube holds 50ish albums, so gauge it from there.

the surprise gift is a blank CD to burn the album on with a lyric book and everything. they were pretty clever with it. I'll be sad forever that we'll never have the Toh Kay rendition on vinyl.

    Nice!

I wish they'd get their shit together for the Twin Peaks soundtracks, after 3 god damn years.

really enjoying the app. wish there was a one-step way to add all variants of an album to my wantlist, sometimes it's easier to do that, then delete the ones I have/don't want than to add each one I want individually (escpecially when I don't care too much about what color/pressing it is, just want the album on vinyl)

I have my entire collection on Dead Format with pictures. I don't know it I can do it over again on Discogs.

With pictures? Man, that's way too much work.

Plus side to discogs, they already have most varients uploaded with pictures. But obviously, showing your actual copy would be important when you're trying to sell.

I wish that you could take a record straight from your collection on Discogs and put on sale instead of having it separate. Other than that I have no complaints.

And a while back I uploaded pics of most of my collection on to a Tumblr but I don't think I've touched it since.

That sucks they don't do it typically. My post office had a habit of delivering my stuff to a house a street over from mine so I like to keep tabs on stuff I order. Oh well hopefully it shows up soon!

Something I hear few people talk about are storage cubes from Target. Very cost effective. There's a 6 cube version that holds close to 400 records I think. You'd obviously have this horizontal haha.

Probably my favorite record in my collection. Pedro the Lion - The Only Reason I Feel Secure (Made in Mexico records).

Definitely not the most rare thing I own, but this is an original press that's kind of tough to find in the states. Probably going to bring this to the Bazan show in June.

What speakers do you have? Also, will I need anything else if I just to get the phono pre-amp built in?

Sorry, I know you didn't ask me but I love this stuff. Here's something I wrote on getting into audio gear a while back: TURNTABLE SETUP BUYING GUIDE

Really basic and definitely not perfect, but it has a bunch of options for gear. Essentially, at a minimum, you will need:

    A turntable
A preamp (unless your turntable has a built-in preamp)
    Speakers
A receiver (unless you own powered speakers)

Everything after that is preference, like subwoofers, special cables, etc. Hope that helps!

I got the powered speakers that they recommended on the site, cus I was on a budget and know very little about turntables and/or speakers. They've worked really well.

As for the preamp there are two options. You can get powered speakers, and if you get those, then you don't need anything else if you get the phono pre-amp. That's the setup I have.

The other option is if you get non-powered speakers, you would need a receiver then as well, I believe.

Others might have better knowledge, but like I said, I've been happy with what I have, especially for a first turntable.

You're right on the money. These are audiophile quality powered speakers, with some options as low as $250, which is a great deal.

Buy vintage, that's always my advice, especially when first getting into it.

Or, at least, a reciever and speakers.

Turntables are getting harder to come by in the thrift shops, but there's always recievers and speakers around.
