Still loving my U-Turn after figuring out the buzz was from our shitty apartment wiring not being properly grounded.

They're customizable so you can go with some cheaper or fancier options depending on your budget. Would recommend spending the money on at least the Ortofon Red cartridge.

r/vinyl is a good resource (or it was when I was looked in 2018).

 

I was looking into getting a Debut Carbon Evo, but was a little unsure about whether it'd be as easy as the basic Audio-Technica turntable I've been using for the last dozen years or so. The Debut Carbon Evo 2 looks like a decent improvement, but I'm not sure I want to spend the extra money on those upgrades over what was already kind of a luxury expense haha

 

Echoing love for the U-Turn, especially because of how great their customer service is. After 5 years my turntable was starting to run into problems. I sent a video to customer service and for only $20 they sent me a replacement spindle, main bearing and belt. Now its back to playing good as new.

How do you’s all find the external belt on the U-turns? Any stretching / warping over time?

Never been a big fan of those external ones personally but that’s the beauty of individual taste!

(Unless I’m thinking of a different brand)

it definitely stretches over time. But they’re pretty cheap to replace. Also found that throwing the belt in the freezer for a few hours fixes any looseness.

It gets overlooked a lot in their discography, but I really liked it. Used Kids in Columbus, OH posted it on their Discogs for about 2/3 the usual Discogs price and I jumped on it. It’s in fantastic shape!

RE: the player conversation. I've had a Denon DP-300F for around 6 years and I'm still happy with it. I upgraded the cartridge to an Ortofon 2M Red a couple of years ago and that was a worthwhile investment, too.

The only thing I dislike about it is the dust cover, which scratches incredibly easily and looks like junk after a while. You can buy a replacement, but it seemed too pricey for something that is just gonna get scratched by light dust again.

 

i always hated that mine's dust cover is tinted

 

I have a Project X2 in a beautiful white color. Updated last year from my decade old Debut Carbon.
