Jelly! Was hoping to pick this up today but neither Bullmoose or newbury had gotten copies of it, weird how hard this seems to be to find in stores.

 

Missed on FOB, so I ordered No Joy and Brave Faces Etc from Pure Noise and a $9 copy of the deluxe Around The World And Back from Discogs.

 

Dammit. Waited too long of SLS and brave faces sold out. Super bummed.

 

I bought Brave Faces Etc. since it's the 2LP version and includes both the full original record and the "reimagining" (stripped down acoustic/low fi versions). If you join their email list, they'll send you a 10% code almost immediately as well.

Velocity just did pressings for both of those in 2022. Glad that more people will be able to get them since both sold out quick, but hopefully there's something special about them because there's about 25 variants for Waiting already.

 

I've bought WAY more used records than I have new in the last year.

 

The machine wants you to triple your output to get them "back on track" haha I don't think I've slowed down my buying too much either!

 

Thursday does not own the rights to 2-3 albums in their catalog so a box set is impossible by them right now

 

They would have to do a bunch of live album performances cut to vinyl, but even then, most people are going to want the original studio versions...

I bought 453 records in 2023, and I've bought 10 so far this year. The cost (and physical space taken up) has a bit to do with that, but for me it's more about reassessing my purchasing/listening habits. I got into a space where I'd feel like I needed to own everything I liked on vinyl. This meant pre-ordering pretty much all new releases I was interested in, but also tons of reissues. The last straw was when I started hitting the used section at my local shop and buying things that I felt were historically important. I have so much I listened to once when I got it, and even more I haven't even gotten around to spinning. I also had a revelatory moment where I admitted to myself that the extra effort which goes into listening to vinyl was often more of an annoyance, and so I really haven't listened to anything on vinyl in months now. I like vinyl in theory, but in practice it's become something which indulges all of my worst habits.

But, that's just me. Most people's spending is probably down because stuff is getting pricier, and also maybe dwindling storage space.

 

Finally got a response from DTR support for NFG. Just asked for my address to send the corrected vinyl. No other info given or asked for. we shall see what happens next.
