Death Touches Us, From the Moment we Begin to Love Supporter

Been quiet on the vinyl front recently.

But I went and saw Anxious, One Step Closer and Koyo in Toronto last night. So I supported each of them.

    Surprise, Surprise Prestigious

Some relevant news in the indie record store world today regarding Taylor's new record. Sounds like UMG held the preorders for all stores (aside from Target) until today.

Waterloo Records on Instagram: "You can now preorder the new Taylor Swift from us (link in bio)! //// Our friends from Darkside Records in Poughkeepsie, NY sum up what a mess this preorder has been for independent record stores and it is worth sharing. From @darksiderecordspk : "Surprise? Taylor Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department, comes out April 19th. You can preorder the white vinyl & CD now on our website… finally. You don’t need us to tell you about this release, she’s only the biggest artist in the world today. So instead, let’s focus on @universalmusicgroup , shall we? Taylor announced this album during this years Grammy’s, on February 4th. Today is March 18th, so that’s 44 days that we haven’t been allowed to take a preorder from you. Why? I wish we knew. Our best answer for that is, @universalmusicgroup. Target got to announce their preorder last Sunday, March 10th. Why? @universalmusicgroup. We were finally told that we could take preorders this past Friday, the 15th. But- we weren’t allowed to post about it until 12:01am EST today, March 18th. Why? @universalmusicgroup You might notice that our price, and Target’s for that matter, is $10 higher than if you buy on Taylor’s site. Why? Well, because our cost from @universalmusicgroup is basically the same as what it’s being sold for there. Why again? @universalmusicgroup. Why to all of this? Because @universalmusicgroup can. And they do. There is no equality of information for indies, and our suppliers are our direct competitors. They set the rules, we pick up the scraps and say thank you, may we have another? So, all that being said- We will have A LOT of Taylor in-stock. Like we always do. And we’d love your preorder. It supports us directly as a small business, and that in turn supports our local community here in the Hudson Valley. All of that matters, to us at least. So, thank you for your consideration in choosing us to preorder Taylor, or even just buy it later when your order from @universalmusicgroup is lost, damaged, or just plain old late.""

where would i be if i was my brain Prestigious

That container store thing would be a nice way to store the records I keep away from my regular collection.

is it the same for you? Prestigious

I don't order many things from Universal artists, but it's really disheartening (if not surprising) to see such a huge company continue to do such bad service to independent stores and fans. Darkside is my local shop, and they have so many problems with them, especially on the shipping side of things. It's especially shitty in this case, where you have the Record Store Day Ambassador from two years ago putting out a new album the day before Record Store Day and there being absolutely no synergy for independent stores for the release.

Re: Long Pond, it is hilarious to me that there are 40 copies of this fucker for sale on Discogs and the lowest-priced is $270. Y'all need to learn a little something about supply and demand.

This was me! It's a totally solid pressing, IMO. I'm not an audiophile, but it sounds good to my ears, and I was tired of waiting for them to re-press it officially.
