I agree with everyone on saving the extra money and get games or pay for a year of the ps+ sub. Lots of great games on there.

 

That would actually be pretty funny.

 

The selling point of the pro is the 4K.

if you’re nerdy enough to own a 3080 maybe the pro is worth it, but not even it is as powerful as the Pc you already have. Connect that to your new tv for the best experience and play some heckin Ghosts of Tsushima.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes has been absolutely devouring my free time since I started it the other day. The vibe and story are so in line with all of my favorite media in a way that I absolutely wasn't expecting and the puzzles are (mostly) very fun and satisfying to crack. I think I'm inching toward the end, which is a bummer, but this is going to stick with me long after I finish it.

 

There were a bunch of sales right now to get the base ps5 disc edition (Fortnite bundle) for $425 instead of the usual $500, so I went with that. Thanks everyone for weighing in!

Quick notes: Stellar Blade is incredibly entertaining, visual "attributes" aside it's a blast to play and best soundtrack of the year by far. Balatro is the most addicting game I've ever played. "Shadow of the Erdtree isn't a game tho!!!!!" I got more gameplay out of it than whatever drivel is being complained about so suck it. SH2 remake did a great job building on what made the original game so good. Astro Bot was lots of fun in a short time and didn't overstay its welcome (in the base game). Metaphor got better the longer it went and I'm excited to have an Alan Wake 2-like moment when I finish it this year and realize it's actually probably GOTY. Infinite Wealth's story was pretty good but the gameplay was immaculate and Yamai is one of my favorite VG characters that year. Lorelei is a very fun puzzle game that does get a bit repetitive. I FINALLY understood UFO50 and realized I was just playing the wrong games the whole time, and after exploring more I enjoy it a lot more. The Crush House is a fun dumb reality TV sim that can get weird and stupid and I had a lot of fun playing it with my wife and seeing what weird scenarios we could create.

 

My top 10 in no order with the caveat I still have a good amount from this year I want to play:

I also finished Life is Strange: Double Exposure and my god the last two episodes are such a nose dive and soured me on the whole experience. Truly disliked where they took the story after initially being interested

 

Freedom Wars game of the year

 

I am absolutely loving the deep dive / forensics going on, regarding potential half life 3 teases, and I am fully buying in on the copium. There's plenty on reddit (won't link as I know some of ya'll hate that place) and other places too, but I am fully on board, and really do think that we are actually going to get some news soon.

Absolutely horrible start to 2025 personally so maybe it's just me looking for something good soon :)

 

What would Half-Life 3 even be at this point? They were clearly uninterested in making a game for game's sake, so I'm a little nervous about the idea of Valve finally finding something "worth" pursuing.

 

I’m playing this now too and it’s not the kind of game I normally go to, so I’ve been surprised how wildly addicted I’ve gotten to it. Realizing now I may have been missing out on a whole genre of games that I would love

 

HL 3 should be a roguelike idle deckbuilder with soulsborne mechanics

 

Days Gone is pretty rad, its made me also check back into TLOU Part 1, I need to finish this damn game it's never been spoiled for me lol.

Wildfrost has all the vibes that I love with how cute it is and being a card game, but the difficulty can be unforgiving at times. Still excited to put a lot of hours into this.
