I did see that but didn't see the reason as to why. I was hoping it wasn't because something going on with Asmodee. Glad to see it doesn't appear to be.

I feel like it's probable that more people have played Pandemic in the past 2 years then ever before so if it was being delisted because of that would be very strange.

I haven't played many Asmodee games but I like what they do a whole lot

 

I've collected a lot of Asmodee games over the years by pure accident, as it's not really my usual gaming scene, but I recognize they're a very respectable publisher in their particular genre. Pandemic is one that I own. Maybe one day I'll give it a whirl.

Player's Log: Covid Simulator.

I took a break from Yesterday tonight to try out this fresh hell.

It's okay. It's interesting, I guess.

You start by determining some basic stats for your workplace, like number of workers, number of rooms, percentage vaxxed, percentage masked, and you can set up some mandates and schedule nuances to start with. You can also choose which version of Covid to go with, including Omicron, although the game warns players that data on Omicron may not be accurate since it hasn't been studied enough.

Then your workplace gets generated, and you can speed up proceedings by up to 200x to watch the drama unfold. You can then make more mandate changes, hire more workers, close down for the day, etc. Every so often a weird "social commentary" meme will appear on the screen, but I believe this can be turned off in the options.

As a simulator I have absolutely no idea if it's accurate. I lowballed it with 100 employees in 10 rooms with half vaxxed and half masked, and then let it run. I played with some settings afterward, adding a mask mandate, and later I let the virus mutate to make all vaccinations ineffective, forcing the employees to get new vaccinations. I did choose Omicron to start with. 14 days in only one person died, and after about a month, every employee was at least pro-vax if not vaccinated with absolutely no one being anti-vax.

I feel like that's not an accurate representation.

I might play more with it in the future as a thought exercise, but I'll also say that the moral implications of running a simulation on something that's currently happening out there in the world crossed my mind a couple times. It feels weird. It feels real weird.

I just finished New Vegas. The battle at the Dam was so cool. I didn't know the point of no return was really a point of no return, though. Mayyybe I never actually got this far on my initial playthrough. Usually with Bethesda, you can keep playing after you finish the main quest, but I guess for this one it's not the case. If I'd known that I wouldn't have spent so much time during the battle picking up stuff I'll never get to use haha. I guess I have to reload a previous save to continue playing, I still haven't met all the companions, nor have I touched any of the DLC.

Absolutely refuse to replay that slog of a game...oh well

 

New Vegas was done by obsidian not Bethesda so that’s one reason why it’s not quite like other Bethesda endings

 

the urge to play fallout 3/NV/4 now is too much

It looks like a standalone rerelease of BL2DLC4 actually. The new game comes out in March
