Dammit, was really hoping for another Elden Ring delay, like a short one of 1 month or so. Wish it wasn't dropping three days after The Witch Queen.

Horizon, Witch Queen, and Elden Ring in one week is too much but I'm up for the challenge. Might hold off on Elden Ring until I'm raid ready

Also re: the journalism/GamePass tweet from earlier, just wait until Microsoft consolidates as much of the industry as they can under their umbrella and then decides to start jacking up the price of GamePass. We'll see exactly how populist they really are at that point. It's only such a good deal now because they're still competing with Sony. When that competition is no longer there, they'll have no reason to keep the deal as good as it currently is. Corporations are not your friends.

Absolutely devastated to find out that corporations aren’t my friends. Guess i’ll have to rescind Sony and Microsoft’s invite to my birthday party.

  7. no one is saying people don't know, but it's still prudent to remind people to be a little more far-sighted when cheering on corporate consolidations.

I mean, the moron in that tweet clearly thinks Microsoft is his friend lol. I don't think anybody here is that stupid though.

  10. that said, yes, as of now, Game Pass is fucking incredible

but I still very much question where it all leads. Like when I bought Scarlet Nexus (day one, fellow weebs), only for it to appear on Game Pass a month later, do you think that made me more or less likely to buy games outright?

  11. it's one of the very few games that holds my attention to so deeply I don't even tab out to change graphics settings lol

Valhalla spoilers ahead if anyone really cares

not sure how much of this played out how it did because my specific choices but just killed Ivarr, extremely fun boss fight but didn’t struggle too much, I am starting to get to the point where I feel much MUCH more powerful than I did to begin and have some amazing skills and talents. thought the plot point where Ivarr intentionally killed Ceolbert to ignite the war he wanted but didn’t get due to peace talks was obvious and I predicted it when ceolburt didn’t show up for the meeting because he had “gone hunting.” nonetheless it was a fun little romp and enjoyable chapter

    Player's Log: Yesterday.

I grew up on point and click games. The Monkey Island series especially was a big factor on getting me hooked on the genre, and I've always had a soft spot for any point and click adventure I can get my hands on. The feel of taking random items and having to put them together to complete a task can be both monumentally frustrating and immensely satisfying.

I don't have the patience or time to stumble around blindly anymore though, so as an example, I'm playing Yesterday with a walkthrough, so I know exactly what to look for and where, and can focus just on the narrative.

The narrative is... odd. The game treats who the villain of the story is as a mystery when it's so amazingly clear who the villain is that I have to believe it's not really meant to be a mystery and the real mystery is going to reveal itself as the game goes on. Either that or it's just badly written. I guess we'll find out!

There are some narrative beats though that really strike me as horribly outdated, even for a game originally released in 2012. There's this bellman character that's shown up who fits the Pervert Foreigner trope and it's extremely cringe. But also the overall delivery of some of these lines are just not good.

On the other hand, I've just read this game was made during a turbulent time not just in the company's life, but also in Spain in general where the company is located. Apparently this had to be made with a quarter of the budget they had for the third Runaway game, which probably explains quite a bit.

Anyway, I hope the game's plot at least continues to be entertaining, especially since I also own the sequel and I plan to play that when I'm done with this one.

just unlocked the asgard subzone in valhalla. and have the option to go vinland but im under leveled for it right now. also went to isle of sky briefly. but i can appreciate these small little self contained maps to break up some of the monotony of the main england map, although im not finding it all that monotonous and think each zone is varied just enough while keeping the whole feeling like a realistic map. there's the swampy bogs, the beautiful rolling hills, more rocky mountainous regions with and without snow, it doesnt feel like the same thing over and over again like the egypt in origins did. still, asgard is fucking sick and norse shit is always extremely my shit so im glad they tossed in side stuff like this
