Death Stranding is a 10 hour game repeated 3 times, literally

Complete deliveries, get that area on the grid. Go back in time and fight Madds. Complete deliveries in the next area, go back in time and fight Madds, complete deliveries in the final area, go back in time and fight Madds.

Then you have a boxing match with Cool Guy on a grey beach.

in pokemon you catch pokemon then battle a gym leader then move on to the next area where you catch pokemon then battle a gym leader then move on to the next area where you catch pokemon then battle a gym leader then move on to the next area

then you battle four cool guys

Mario 3 is one game repeated 8 times. You fight through the levels on the world map, board an airship, beat a koopaling. Then you have to go to another world and do it all again. Then you go to cool guy's castle and dunk him in lava.

im not a gamer but I think these are just referred to as "gameplay loops" and if you dont like the gameplay loop its understandable but also very simplified. Each area is different and you're constantly upgrading equipment which changes how many deliveries you can make/how far you can travel/how you can avoid enemies easier or confront them etc etc.

    Player's Log.

I finished Adr1ft. Ultimately I think it's a good game but with very poor execution.

There are upgrades for your suit, including ones that let you move faster and give you better mobility, but they also have the unfortunate effect of making the character even more floaty and impossible to control. I died quite a bit just because I had such a problem navigating the world.

Also, the HUD points you only in the direction you need to go, which doesn't always equal the path you need to travel. I died quite a bit because I was absolutely lost on what pathway to take. These two items in tandem equals frustration.

That being said, when the game shines, it shines. It's got great atmosphere, and I like the level design even if it's a pain in the ass to navigate.

Also, the story was pretty fascinating, albeit depressing: You play the commander of the space station, and you learn along the way that the reason the station collapsed and everyone else is dead is because you didn't follow safe protocols. One of the fallen was your friend, and the ending has her mother chew you out for causing her death. Made me want to steer the escape pod into the sun.

Anyway, I ended up with 11 of 22 achievements. I had planned to play the "EVA free" mode, which would let me explore the levels with infinite oxygen, but I've now learned that you can't earn achievements in that mode.

Assuming that's true, as much as I'd like to explore the game further and earn more achievements, I'm just not sure if I'm willing to put up with the oxygen nonsense anymore.

I'm thinking for now I might just put this game to rest and move on to something else. Sticking with the 505 theme, the next game I'll tackle is Horace. I've heard a lot of good things about it, so I'm excited.

It's definitely more freeform than I was expecting going into it. I just finished the game on Saturday. Generally a good thing to do is to kill each Visionary at least once and search their private rooms for papers to read/tapes to listen to. That should be most of what you need to get more direction on how to set up the perfect day.

Also a good idea to simply visit each area during each time period. Some events will trigger automatically when you enter an area during the right time period and that will give you leads on legendary weapons or other important quests.
