I’ll probably play it but I wish it wasn’t just one character that’s playable

Because Star-Lord is, like it or not, the designated leader of the team, and the concept of the gameplay is you giving commands to your teammates. I mean, who else would you play as and still keep the same dynamic?

Man, imagine if you played Groot, and all of your dialogue choices were just different inflections of "I am Groot." Imagine that game.

I think the ask is to have been able to swap out to other characters during combat but still be Star-Lord for the purposes of story and dialogue choices.

Yeah, I get it. And that would have been cool, especially since all five Guardians are fairly dissimilar. Groot and Drax are both powerhouses, but I think Groot could be worked to feed more into his treelike nature while Drax be more of a direct attacker. Gamora would be a swordfighter, of course. And Star-Lord and Rocket are both gunmen, but Rocket's size and preference for larger weapons could separate him easily from Quill, who could use his jetpack.

That being said, to make all of this run smoothly in combat and allow for a variety of options for players to utilize sounds like a tall, tall order. And I'd rather they perfect one character than make five imperfect characters. I'm not saying they're not up to the task, but I can see why they would prefer to focus on one of the five rather than make more work for themselves.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you also giving them orders in combat? I thought I read that somewhere.

Just completed the second DLC in Spider-Man. The close combat was a little frustrating just because the camera was freaking out but overall not bad.

 

Exactly. Playing as Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot sounds so fun, but why would you just eliminate that possiblity?

 

If you were able to play as Groot, I would be very disappointed if there wasn’t a taunt button and his was constantly repeating: “I am Groot”

 

Nvidia gave me a free code for Guardians because I bought a pc with one of their graphics cards, so I will give it a shot for a few hours at least.
