HK is a masterpiece, it's also what made me get into Soulsborne games. I realized I loved that feeling of having to die and die again before figuring out a boss. Winning some of those fights is absolute fuckin bliss after so many tries.

 

thats why im excited to try out a from game after tackling hollow knight. well, at some point before elden ring comes out anyway.

 

I get so happy when I remember Silksong is coming someday, it's been taking a long time but that's very okay. As long as it comes someday and I can get my fix again.

 

im not used to play games with such a harsh death penalty. now up to this point ive always been able to defeat my shade and get my shit back but i know one of these days, soon, im gonna die and then die again before making it back and throw my controller out the window

 

This comes out this month and is advertising soulslike combat.

 

game is about to open up quite a bit given where you’re at! exploration is obviously a huge part of it but I’m pretty glad I used a guide a bit on my first play through, it’s far from obvious where to go sometimes

still my favorite game of all time, lmk if you get stuck

 

Ohhhh yeah, it's almost inevitable. Managing the currency is stressful af but then you just get used to being stressed about it all the time lol

For sure, I’m just looking things up as I go if anything gets confusing or I’m just completely lost, like I thought fog canyon was gonna be after greenpath but couldn’t figure out why I was locked out of seeing the map guy, turns out I had to drop all the way down and get to queens station and then fungal wastes, i eventually would’ve figured it out after scanning all my open ended paths but it would’ve taken forever and I had already wasted a lot of time looking haha

 

I really think it's going to be Shadow-dropped somehow, somewhere

 

Some YouTube game channels I follow seem to be holding out hope it’s coming this year lol. They can take their time considering I’m only just now getting around to hollow knight and will get plenty of play out of it for at least a few more years haha

 

first run took forever for that reason, tons of trial and error but it’s also a great world to get lost in for a while

to your prior post about death penalty, don’t worry about geo too much as you’ll start getting a lot more of it pretty quick. my one suggestion would be to upgrade your nail in the next area ASAP, makes it easy to slice up enemies for quick cash

 

Yeah nail upgrade is clutch af.


The second Ori took a lot from HK and it made it such a better game than the first Ori, I need to play that shit again.

 

i heard ori was like the pre-hollow knight metroidvania that was getting a ton of hype, then hk came along, so i was curious to look more into it

 

I like Ori 1 I had to push my self through some of it though, it gets annoying at time, but fuck me the second Ori just took a bunch of shit from HK and it ruled so hard. I don't think I could ever go back to Ori 1 after all the great changes made to the 2nd

 

So I'm continuing to play this Guardian Tales game I mentioned on Bluestacks, and I'm really kind of surprised this hasn't been ported to consoles or Steam with the quality I'm seeing here. It's technically a gacha game, but I haven't had to do anything gacha-related since I started, which is refreshing.

The main gameplay is Zelda-lite, with takes on the usual Zelda items like the Pegasus Boots and Hookshot, although sometimes the gameplay diverges in odd ways, like one side story has a riff on Diner Dash and a main quest involves shooting enemies from atop a giant robot.

The story it's telling has quite a bit of humor to it, but it's also gone some fairly dark places here and there that I wasn't expecting. Each world offers something different; World 1 is basically the Lost Woods from Zelda, but World 2 was a city under siege, World 3 a haunted magic school, and World 4 is pretty much Mad Max.

There is a lot to do as well. There's collectibles in each stage, secret levels with additional side stories, side stories outside the main game, a town you can build up and expand, a battle arena where you can fight other players, a tower dungeon with multiple levels, additional dungeons to earn resources, and each main World also has harder versions with their own additional stories.

What I'm trying to say is for a free game, it's shocking how much is on offer here with, as far as I can see, no rigmarole.

Hollow Knight is one of a very few games Id consider a modern classic. Silksong aint coming any time soon though. Which is all good. Hope they can catch lightning in a bottle twice.
