I mean that’s what I loved about inquisition, the several smaller areas to choose from and come and go as you wanted as opposed to one massive open world with way too much stuff you’ll never do

Most turn-based JRPG's are linear for the most part. Especially SNES era ones. They are straight up linear until you like get an airship around the end lol.

ah fuck, the open beta doesn’t officially kick off until next week unless you pre-ordered or got in another way. I’ll have to wait until next Thursday

this probably won’t work but doesn’t hurt to try, you can try and register for access on their site. That’s the other way I was talking about haha. Just put e-mail in and they want to know how quick your internet is as well as what platform you play on.

Shit, I need to play the rest, I finished the first day and the PS5 version was all fucked up still and had a bug that wouldn't let you finish the game so I just stopped. Idk if I should restart or keep going. Don't think I'd want to restart.

This is something that I'd wager most people who complain about games being "too linear" either don't understand or don't want to admit lol. Linearity is not inherently a bad thing. It's really just when a game is bad at disguising its linearity that problems arise.

Just look at all the criticism of Final Fantasy 13 vs. the lack of criticism for the beloved (and similarly linear) Final Fantasy 10. 10 was way better at making the game not feel like a hallway simulator, even though it very much also was.

Yup, games with overworld maps give the illusion that it's open world but your ass ain't going anywhere except the little plot of land you're in until you progress the story and go to the next little plot of land.

It is exciting when these type of games open up though and you can do some exploring and find some OP shit or get rekt by some OP enemies.

Hmmm I haven’t ran into any bugs yet on the 5, but I did hear some people were having issues. I’m sure they’re resolved now.

It's all resolved now, it was pretty bad when it was released.
