so is dragon age anything like kotor - gameplay and character/world wise? I loved that game but fell off bioware completely with mass effect 1.

 

I mean I know people had problems with inquisition as well but I honestly enjoyed every second of it and everything about it but it was my first time playing a party based rpg and an rpg with that much depth in building relationships and dialogue

 

I like Andromeda, but wasn’t that the b-team? I’ll give you Anthem lol

 

Yeah it’s a great game, great combat too

 

yeah but that was because edmonton was too focused on....anthem. soooo

 

there's a good amount of KOTOR DNA in DA:O for sure

 

i keep forgetting about kotor even tho its at the top of my steam wishlist...will def be hopping on that soon as well.

 

I tried to get into the first Divinity, but I was so bad. The combat is pretty intense

 

what about inquisition? or 2?

 

Inquisition, and especially 2, kind of stray away from that mold. They're more action-focused in terms of the combat. Also in 2 you're locked in to playing as a human so the character creation diversity isn't there.

I'm actually a DA2 defender, in that I think they were experimenting in some cool ways with the plot structure of that game, but it does have a lot of faults, chief among them being the heavily recycled environments.

Inquisition is an excellent game though.

 

i was still getting the hang of it in 2 when i stopped playing, so i think i talked about this earlier maybe with you in the thread but im def gonna be starting all the way over when i jump back in. im not used to old school tactical style RPG's and im even less used to turn based combat so i really have no idea what im doing. but i do like the turn based combat as opposed to like pillars of eternity where you kind of have to make it turn based by constantly pausing and unpausing. theres just so many nuances to the combat in divinity and the breadth of customization when it comes to builds makes it hard to know if what youre doing and putting your points into is actually like...viable not to mention your party make up and all your party members individual builds...its a lot in games like this. which is why i like to play on lower difficulty settings so i can pretend like everything im doing makes me more powerful and good even though its probably because the game's a steamroll on easy or lower and my builds low key sucks lmao

 

like i found out you can edit other party members tactics and your own in dragon age origins and was like yeah idk about all that just gonna not touch it and see what happens

 

Fucking game is hard as fuck to get the hang of. I resent the game because it hasnt clicked yet and @slowheart swings his big dong about how many times hes beaten those games and loves em that motherfucker.

 

Once the game clicks….it’s so good. And so rewarding.

 

Don’t get me wrong, if they aren’t for you they aren’t for you but man I love them.

Divinity is everything I wish most MMOs could be. The player agency and choice you have is outstanding.
