Buying physical copies is a head cow move

These days buying a physical copy of a game doesn't even guarantee you anything anyway. You still have to install the whole game on your console's memory, so it doesn't save space. Most games need to be connected to the internet to be playable. Games that you can still play "offline" sometimes will lock you out from playing them if you aren't able to update them. All that resisting people did for so long was all for nothing because they just changed the industry around us without us even realizing it. No real difference between owning most games physically or digitally these days.

Apart from being able to trade the game in afterwards. My Switch is basically self sufficient at this point the way Nintendo games hold their value. Buy one, complete it, sell it and put the money towards the next game.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

I’ll still gladly buy physical and it’ll always be my preferred way to buy

I'm mostly digital now, but will buy used physical copies of all time favorites once the price drops. Too many positive feelings associated with picking a game up in a store or having it delivered, opening cases up and putting discs in, etc. I'll probably end up with twelve or fifteen of stuff that's been released fo far.

Physical is for limited/collector's editions ONLY and 95% of those suck anyway.

  8. I had a physical UT2004. Granted, this was a long ass time ago, I can understand five discs for a season of television, but five discs for a game? No wonder I switched to digital. I still buy DVDs, though, even of shows that were originally on streaming platforms.

Playing almost exclusively on Switch and Nintendo first party games I will always choose physical over digital if I have the option

  10. I don’t think I have a single physical switch game tbh.

I have some collectors editions (mostly from the 360/PS3 era) but that’s about it for physical games.

    nothing wrong with either

I buy physical for Switch usually, or if the physical is cheaper than the digital

The metal collector cases were the only thing cool about physical but even those went away. At this point discs are glorified coasters.

Physical all the way. I love having a collection and I find just buying games and displaying a collection to be so satisfying

This is the thing. If you wanna buy digital for a game any time it's not on sale, you're looking at £10-15 more than in a shop. Over the space of the year, that adds up a whole new game.

For Playstation physical is generally cheaper, I'll have times I want an old game and physically it's 20 dollars at every damn store around me but I have the digital only PS5 and it's 59.99.

it would be cool if digital copies would start being cheaper than physical

The only physical game I currently own is Arkham Origins because it never was sold digitally.

Having a physical copy should be better but the nature of the industry is such that even a lot of our physical copy games will be unplayable eventually

Started Ratchet & Clank 2015, and it’s great so far. Never played it on PS4, but looks great on the 5. I’m assuming it automatically uses the PS5 update.
