I’m interested to see what else they had in the works if that is the surprise one.

Up until now I think whats kept the mega AAA third party devs from getting bought is that it wouldnt be better for their business. It IS a problem for consumers if were at the point now where large number acquisitions can negate whatever business the devs would be leaving on the table otherwise.

 

the bethesda purchase was $7.5b. are they purchased for like forever now or 10 years or what? I wonder how much money theyve made on Skyrim since release? why is that kind of info so hard to find I always want to know

 

They outright own the company now. I'd also like to point out they didn't just buy Bethesda, they bought the parent company Zenimax so they acquired Bethesda, Id, MachineGames, Arkane, Alpha Dog, Roundhouse Studios, Tango Gameworks and Zenimax Online Studios.

Add that to Double Fine, Compulsion Games, inXile Entertainment, Ninja Theory, Obsidian, Playground Games and Undead Labs which they bought in 2018 & 2019.

 

If no one is seeing a pattern, I'd be baffled

 

I love my Xbox. I love game pass. Game Pass is literally the best thing in gaming and it isn’t close.

Buying everything under the sun is not okay lol. I mean it is okay but it shouldn’t be.

 

Microsoft is buying this thread next.

 

I would say the best thing in gaming is probably the games, but Game Pass is definitely up there.

I chose team PlayStation at age 10 so fuck Microsoft and their big ass wallet.

 

I started with Nintendo and gradually shifted to PlayStation over the years. I don't see myself ever becoming that invested in Microsoft. I do like being able to play games on my phone though, that's really cool.

 

I also started with Nintendo/Super Nintendo. Not sure how my transition to the first PS happened. I think my sister influenced my decision much like everything else regarding movies, music, etc.

 

I sat on the floor in 1997 watching my brother run around the golden saucer in FF7 and was in awe.

I actually started with Sega lol. Had the Sega Channel. Shit was so sick

 

I was a huge Xbox fan for many years. Some of my favorite games were on xbox, and 360. They lost a lot of good faith from me with the whole XB1 launch strategy. Then haven’t recovered with their first party games for me to buy another MS console.

I do think Game Pass is awesome, and a very good thing for the industry.

 

I might’ve just been lucky in that whatever genres/series of games I was ever into at any time were always available to me on a PlayStation console, so I never needed to make the jump. The two exceptions (and I got to enjoy them anyways at my friends) were always Gears of War and Left 4 Dead.

HOWEVER, I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I have several times almost left the mall with a Nintendo Switch.

 

Should absolutely get a switch. Great console

 

Just got my hands on one this Christmas. It’s a lot of fun.

 

When Metroid Prime 4 is revealed it's gonna be way harder putting off getting a Switch. Missing out on BOTW and Mario Odyssey is bad enough.

 

Switch has a fantastic catalog. It’s also nice to play some old SNES/NES games.

I’d love something like that for Game Boy/GBA too.

 

Definitely worth waiting for the switch pro if you ask me. I’m considering selling mine right now and putting that money away for when the pro gets here.
