I read it twice and they won’t do that. They will make you pay full price to get the game if you switched over platforms

 

it’s actually true tho sometimes - I stayed in this hotel in Shanghai and a 5 star hotel there is like a 6 or 7 star hotel in the West. not kidding at all.

 

my question is “could we ever see publishers do.....” in the future?

yes but Microsoft's track record of making any game doesn't justify that kind of budget, even though Gears 5 came close.

 

gears 1 was tits back in the day. strangely I gave zero fucks when 2 rolled out and I’ve given less since then. Am I wrong?

lol they’re shouldn’t be that big a difference from the publishers’ perspective between cross gen and cross platform, esp if the customer is paying a premium for that edition. the difference would be if Sony and Microsoft would allow such a thing.

 

Not really. Flashier doesn’t mean more stars. Though then again different countries have different rules. It’s not the unified system people think it is.

 

I get it and words are just words when were talking about ‘star’ hotel and it’s all silly. but it logically stands to reason that you can stay in a notably nicer hotel in some places than others and have both of them be labeled ‘5 star’. I’ve stayed in bougie ass top hotels in NYC and Shanghai and there was a world of difference I was shocked.

 

I think they have gotten mostly better with every game. The new trilogy so far also introduced a new tone. But it still plays like Gears so if you’re over that then that’s that.

 

I don’t know. Stars usually have more to do with going down a checklist of “services”. At some point things are superfluous. Doesn’t mean that they aren’t nice, but I don’t know if they need stars to measure them. Also, you don’t want to know the circumstances that allows a hotel in Dubai to be that much fancier than one in say Berlin. Plus there have always been big differences between hotels with the same amount of stars even within the same country simply because of what they actually measure versus what people think they mean.

5 > 3 > 2 > 4 > 1 but they're all excellent. One just doesn't hold up as well as the others.

 

interesting. I’m really just coming from a laymen customers perspective about nice hotels not necessarily service checklist, although those were crazy too.

I grew up in hotels, which is why I know a lot of the background industry stuff. For example, in Switzerland, arguably one of the places in which the modern hotel industry was shaped, a big difference between three star and four star hotels is if the reception is staffed throughout the whole night. The three star hotel could be fancier in many ways than the four star hotel next door, but not be a four star because it doesn’t have that.

Also stars are increasingly becoming a thing for corporate hotels. Privately owned hotels increasingly opt out, including very fancy ones, because the “checklists” don’t make sense for them.

 

4 > 2 > 3 > 5 > Judgement > 1

But 4, 2, 3, 5 are very close to each other

I do prefer the tone in the new games

i really loved the open world in Gears 5, idk why. That weird kite thing rocked ass.

 

Judgement is goofy but still plays better than 1

 

I can't get over my disdain for People Can Fly. as I said, one doesn't really hold up, it's a blueprint for the greatness that came with 2 :x

 

For multiplayer the best one is usually the newest one. Gears multiplayer is still very good. Pretty hardcore players base though in terms of skills.
