My partner and I played through all of Super Mario World this weekend. It’s a perfect video game, folks.

 

Witcher 3 is one of the best games of all time.

 

My friends and apparently the entire gaming population of reddit raved endlessly (and still do) about it and yet when I borrowed it I just sat there like...why...felt super clunky and I was supremely underwhelmed after expecting what most equate to some life-changing experience ha

...kinda like how a lot of you wrongly feel about RDR2. Opinions eh

 

They fixed the controls. Plays like a dream now.

 

I borrowed it pretty recently! Like within the last two months.

just saying the really fixed the controls, but I'm not sure if the updated preset (2) is the default.

 

It’s not the default. Even the default is nowhere near as laggy as RDR2 though. Also Witcher 3 was a big hit but that developer has nowhere near the resources that Rockstar has, which makes me more forgiving.

 

Excited for new Kojey Radical on Friday. That and JPEGMAFIA have got next weekends music sorted.

 

god @Randall Mentzos is such a fucking nerd. i'm trying to get him to kill people with a chainsaw in San Andreas, like god intended, and he's just like "nah man, no cheating". might as well drop out of crime and get a job at CVS and role play that shit.

 

And just like that Shadow of the Colossus is finished (for the umpteenth time). Just in time for Greedfall!

Witcher questions bc Im still not sure

1. Are there big towns with interesting people to talk to and plots to insert yourself into? the beginning of the game at least looks sparse on that.
2. Are there dungeons or does most every event take place in the overworld?
3. Anyone tried the first person view mod?
4. Why does the foliage look so bizarre constantly blowing around big time?

 

1. Yes, definitely. The biggest town specifically is one of the most impressive video game cities I have seen outside of like GTA.
2. Sort of, depends on the location and what you mean by dungeon. But you do sometimes go into houses, caves and so on, for relatively long stretches of time.
3. No.
4. I have never noticed that while playing. It does have nice wind tech but I don’t think it’s constant or anything.

 

if question 1 is a big yes then Im interested. idk if the guy I was watching was doing mostly side quests or if the beginning of the game is slow and less of that or what.

 

The game has a lot of different regions that look very different and are very different in terms of population and so on. The starting area is also separate from the rest and more quiet. Won’t take you long though.

 

The first area starts a little slow, but after a few hours you'll travel to the main country/continent(?) and it gets a lot more interesting. The main city, Novigrad, is massive. It feels really lived-in as well.

I'll admit that the first time I started the game I wasn't hooked right away, so it took me a few months to finally start a new game and now I've put in about 40-50 hours in the last week or so.

The voice acting and writing is realllly good.

 

the quest about the baron and his kid is one of the best realized storylines I've ever played in a game. a shame nothing else really hooked me.

 

I liked 80% of the game but yes that is the highlight in many ways

 

White Orchard brings you in slowly. Once you get to Novigrad it really opens up IMO. Skellige is just as good as well.

 

looked at some screenshots of Skellige. Looks sick.

Shame my save is forever trapped on Xbox Live.

 

Skelige is cool but that’s where the game becomes long in the tooth imo

 

Ahhhh Witcher 3. Wish I could experience my first time with that game again.

Tried Game Pass before for $1 then canceled before charges. Then later did Game Pass Ultimate for $2(or whatever) for a month, but forgot to cancel and paid for a 2nd month; then cancelled. Even though I never even turned on my XB that 2nd month, it's fine. Now it offered me 3 months of Game Pass Ultimate for $14.99 to jump back in. Yes please. Here I come Gears 5.
