honestly I'm a bit confused now but it definitely looks interesting.

 

I thought the cars were really heavy and thoroughly enjoyed the handling. So satisfying nailing a drift round a corner once you did get used to the handling. The combat in that game was pants though.

GTA V improved upon it a great deal and also took away some of what made IV great.

RDR2 I adored but completely agree with the mission design needs reworking and that. I for one am 100% not shitting on anybody else’s critique of the game. Just saying I love the game and once there’s DLC I’ll gladly slap it back on.

I don’t think many people here are blindly praising it. Media in general, yes. But so far I’ve seen a lot of chorus folk who love it acknowledge its downfalls and appreciate why others found it tedious.

 

fwiw I'm talking about the media exclusively. as a consumer and a fan you have no "moral obligation" to acknowledge any shortcomings of the game. (but I do appreciate if you do so as it makes a good faith discussion about the game much easier, just like I am the first one to admit that a lot of stuff in RDR2 is fucking dope.)

 

I personally haven’t enjoyed Sekiro anywhere near as much as most here. I just can’t get into it at all, and kinda resent that I got it for full price as a PSN store download. Just don’t enjoy it. Thought I would after Bloodborne but nah. Not my thing.

 

I started out really disliking it and almost got a refund myself, I don't know when, but all of a sudden it clicked. maybe you need to be in the right mood for it.

Oh for sure. Something seriously needs to be done about the online aspect. It’s dying hard and doesn’t at all live up to what the single player did for most. I’m praying for an Undead Nightmare 2 of some sorts. I’ve easily sank 100s of hours in that game, and while I genuinely love it, there needs to be something drastic for me to get back on it. I feel like I’ve kind of exhausted everything I wanted to do on it.

 

I guess me finding enjoyment in FFXV and liking the four main characters makes me an idiot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I also don’t know why you’re saying this because several of us literally just acknowledged enjoying it to varying extents.

I didn't like it as much as I wanted to. I definitely found the characters likeable and definitely not one dimensional but the story began to lack towards the end. The videos showing the World of Final Fantasy were incredible and drew my interest.
I bought the Royal Edition when the DLC's came out and that was a whole lot better but I haven't went back to it since finishing it.

 

I was in this exhibition about Cool Japan recently and they had a lot FFXV shit on loan from Square. Cool artwork.

 

FFXV definitely wore its production turmoil on its sleeve, but at the end of the day it was not a bad game by any means. I enjoyed it, most of all because I also loved the four leads. But I’ve been confirmed for idiot for a while now so don’t mind me.

I mean at age 30, I'm well aware things that I fucking LOVE, some people will hate, and it doesn't bother me or phase me. I think it's inevitable on here all of us geeks are gonna banter on what good games are over rated because our taste doesn't fit the particular game. Just quit saying something is bad because YOU don't like it. Like for me with RDR2, I bought GTAV and traded it in right away, open world rockstar games are NOT my thing, they never will be. That doesn't mean I think the game sucks. Just not for me.

RDR2 is overrated as hell, that game is so damn boring and tedious 75% of the time, between the intentionally frustrating design choices and the recycled/repetitive mission structure. If it wasn't for the amazing, medium-defining writing, performances, and graphics it would have been panned as outdated trash.

I’m merely annoyed how little nuance was in the completely universal praise it received)

 

The thing is, we haven't in a while. If we did, it was usually obviously meant hyperbolically. Some of the people that are complaining about the tone here are misrepresenting what has actually been going on, at least in the last few weeks. Today was a great example of that.
