I really do love this new approach giant bomb is doing in reviews

 

Managed to squeeze in some game time for the first time in more than a month yesterday. I gave Apex Legends a shot. It certainly plays a lot better than the other BR games. I’m just still not sure I actually like BR in theory, but I think I might play some more Apex Legends anway.

 

Apex is so good it transcends BR, at least for me. Even though I do like the idea of it, other BR games almost always turned me off for some reason at some point. Apex is just so good.

 

Can’t say enough good about Apex. I rave about it to everyone! So impressed with it. The quality of life additions and accessibility of it all is just astounding. Love the climbing, the sliding, the simplicity and depth of the ping system (which a certain FORTNITE, along with the respawn feature, is suddenly implementing - no surprise there...), the way attachments automatically apply to any weapon of the same class you pick up instead of having to inventory manage, the abilities, the shield system, the gunplay, ahhhhhh I could go on and on. Puts the console versions of PUBG and Blackout to shame. And thank fuck I don’t ever have to build anything.

 

It is very well made and smart, I agree. The thing is, I wish there was more minute to minute action. Depending on how it goes, I don’t see anyone for ten minutes and then die. Given my extremely limited time, that sometimes pisses me off. That’s why I can’t really get into BR.

 

That’s why I always land in hot zones (marked by the giant glowing areas). I’m not the sort to hide around the edge until the end. Though it can get quiet yeah. Pretty much a given in any BR game unfortunately. I love it though. Feels like I’m prepping.

 

Don’t play the game like this. You need to actively land where other people are going and dominate fite fights in the early game.

I just traditionally am the kind of player that plays hardcore matches in Battlefield, suicide mission style, so no respawns is hard for me, haha.

 

I know, it’s not exactly intuitive. I try to think of it like Katamari how you just roll garbage up as you go and get bigger lol

 

Do you jump and stay with your squad? Because usually it’s not me picking when to jump and they never choose a hot zone

 

Well yeah. Always stick together. Of course if your jump master is a coward there’s only so much you can do.

and only then will Microsoft finally manage to sell a few more consoles in Japan.

 

Two out of three of the big companies are Japanese, you have to wonder why Microsoft even tried in Japan.
