what i really like about DA:I compared to a lot of modern action RPG's is that the protagonist, while fully voice acted, is a character that feels like my own due to the depth of character appearance options and customization. i much prefer the feeling of a game like this or skyrim where the character you play feels like your own, as opposed to say the witcher 3 where you're just taking control of someone with a pre determined identity.

 

I like systems where its "oh you have 4 rabbits you can now build a massive fucking bag" as opposed to "oh you want a massive fucking bag? well first gather all these things to make thread, then get this to make leather, oh also grab a couple of this for nails, and now build a hammer, and there is a small bag"

 

Yea the first game I really noticed to do that crafting style well was Far Cry 3, and im very happy that was utilized in Assassins Creed. It’s always so satisfying when I get enough to make the next upgrade.

 

yeah I liked this a lot in Far Cry 3, like they want to give you incentives to hunt so they tie all the ammo/capacity/carrying upgrades to it. it's a good system

 

where is this gonna be? this game is calling to me again

 

I like dumb crafting stuff for aesthetics in games like Harvest Moon and what not, but some of them get so grindy and ridiculous that it becoming tiring and frustrating.

I just want a butler uniform, not the blue overalls, Harvest Moon: A New Beginning. What's that? You want me to befriend a character I don't even like and get their Friendpoints absurdly high and then also have not only the right materials, but amazing quality of the right materials? Sounds fair.



Like it wouldn't bother me so much if it wasn't just that much work for one outfit and there are 94 outfits in the game...

 

Just beat the first castle in Persona 5, that was great

 

god DA:I is so immersive. i fucking love fantasy RPG's lol

 

bought DA:I a while ago on sale and never touched it

 

its worth sinking some time into to really dive in. i feel like ive barely scratched the surface and im enamored. i won't be playing anything else for a while.

 

I have the RDR epilogues to finish and I'm about half way through Horizon, maybe I'll check it out when I wrap those up

 

horizon was about to be my next game but i got shadow instead. which was so short i didn't wanna go out and buy a new game so quickly so i decided to chip away at my backlog for once.

 

should be finishing Shadow of the Tomb Raider soon and then I'm debating starting RDR2 or picking Breath of the Wild back up.

 

A local game store sells video game grab bags and they had 5 PS4 ones so I got them because I'm a child. Here are the results:

Yeah, next time I even think about buying another one I need someone to slap me in the head.

 

As for crafting, I don’t mind it in most games, but always felt the most satisfied synthesizing weapons in Kingdom Hearts.

 

Lmao I don’t even care what they call it, let’s just say they are working on some kind of AAA Final Fantasy

 

Achieving almost any goal in A New Beginning was absurdly grindy. I don’t know what they were thinking. Good game but damn.

 

It's still my favorite HM game.

It's no Rune Factory 4 though. Damn, I wish that company didn't close.

 

That team might still exist in some form. They definitely made a game after the bankruptcy, Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven, for Marvelous I think. That has been a whiile ago too though.

One thing that bugs me about A New Beginning is how terribly it ran. I went back to it right after playing a game that ran very well and almost got a little nauseous. It’s cool though. Rune Factory 4 though is a classic.

 

I finished Danganronpa V3 the other night, what a wild, wild game.

Playing Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu right now. Don't want to start any of my story-heavy long games right now with KH3 so close to release.

 

I'm looking into Anthem but don't want it to be Destiny gameplay meets Dragon Age world from BioWare.

EDIT: This actually sounds quite amazing now that I see it....

 

The trilogy is well worth playing. Note though that the first one plays differently than the other two.
