Xbox Series X looks amazing... but you’re REALLY gonna call it the “Series X”? ...when you have something called the Xbox One X?

Seems pretty shortsighted... like I hate to be this guy, but how many out-of-the-loop grandmothers out there are gonna get their grandkids the wrong gift for Christmas just because the name is whack, ya know?

And aside from all of that potential mess, what does the title even MEAN from a successor standpoint? I don’t know man...

 

Considering the vast amount of major third party titles, I would argue that it very much does. Nobody is debating that their exclusive library has left plenty to be desired this generation, but they appear to be on the right track to fixing that.

Like cool, I can play old games on my Xbox while the present and future doesn’t show me much. Man, that sure shows Sony and Nintendo what’s up.

 

You sound like you desperately want to own an Xbox but can't find a reason. That seems to make you angry. Dude, if you can't find a reason, then you're saving money. What's the problem? Lol.

 

Eh. Backwards comparability has never been a huge deal to me. I’m sure it’s fantastic to have if you’ve got a huge backlog, but for me personally, I get a new console to play the new generation of games. And yes, that includes remasters/remakes because the quality of life and graphical updates usually mean my nostalgia lives up to how it felt back then.

Buying Vice City and Destroy All Humans! on the PS store and realising nostalgia made me forget how dogshit the controls were only emphasised my lack of interest in backwards compatibility. I don’t mind remakes and remasters (though they’re getting numerous), but very, very rarely do I entertain the thought of booting up old consoles or games. Just isn’t something I personally look for.

I will say it’s obviously very good when the backwards compat means a performance upgrade, but it’s still not really on my radar.

 

There will never be a day where I’d rather Play God Of War and Uncharted than Gears or Halo.

Ah. A multiplayer bloke I see. Yeah, I enjoyed the shit out of Halo in the day. And tbf I haven’t ever played Uncharted. But with the likes of Ghosts of Tsushima and the Last Of Us Part 2, I genuinely don’t see an Xbox exclusive that interests me enough to want to dip back in the Microsoft pond. My brother has my old Xbone, so I could if something did show up.

 

It’s not just multiplayer. To me they just play significantly better. I think Naught Dog games for example play like ass. Anyway, I am looking forward to Ghosts Of Tsushima. Regarding Microsoft’s library - they bought a lot of studios recently. Games will be coming. They’re just not in the business of announcing games way early anymore.
