Imo the only Uncharted games I think that come close to TLOU are 2 and 4. TLOU is just greater in everyway for me, it's very rare I'll play a story driven single player game more than once or twice and TLOU I've played through 5 times now.

I don't even like stealth games and TLOU made me enjoy it, ha.

As much as I love Uncharted the only one near TLOU for me would be 4 and even then it's an easy choice. TLOU just does so much more with it's characters, storytelling and world building.

I enjoyed those aspects of it, but the gameplay wasn't good which is why I didn't enjoy it as much as most

TLOU might be my favorite game of all time and U4 is right behind it.

No one has even brought up TLOU's multiplayer. It's one of the best multiplayer modes in recent years too.

I love Uncharted 4 too, definitely one of my favourite PS4 games, but storywise it just can't compete with TLOU (although its story is still pretty good).

I have yet to play the game but just as a casual observer did it need multiplayer or was it a causality of what I call the "Assassins Creed Epidemic" and that it was tacked on?

Also, I think some of the Overwatch crowd may disagree.

The story, characters, writing, plot, performances, visuals, etc. in TLOU are top-notch and unimpeachable, really. But the gameplay could be rough at times. It was tough for me, personally, to get through portions of it, where it felt more like a chore than fun. But I soldiered on because it was just such a captivating narrative. Goddamn was it good. And now it's going to be ruined by an unnecessary sequel.

But I wouldn't rank it in my top ten games of all time. I don't even think I'd rank it in the top ten of the PS3/360 generation, but I'd have to think about that list a bit first.

I didn't think it would work, and I'm not huge on multiplayer but I had an excellent time with it. Very tense, slow, methodical gameplay that felt more like a chess game when you were doing it right. It wasn't fun going in solo though, I needed at least one buddy with me knowing what they were doing. I'm pretty sure it's the one and only game I've ever spent money on micro transactions on, ha.

  15. I'm very close to finishing TLOU and it's one of the best single player games I've ever played. In the same tier as Red Dead Redemption for me as far as storytelling goes, just completely in a different ballpark than most games' stories.

The gameplay definitely has more in common with Uncharted than anything, but they're very different games. TLOU is all about resource management and stealth, and Uncharted is more action/adventure.

  16. definitely play through all three Uncharted games if you have the time, but you could potentially skip the first one; 2 & 3 are much better. TLOU is miles ahead of any of them and is not at all overhyped.

I don't think it needed it, but in 2013 when it originally came out it felt so fresh. At that point in time I had played a lot of multiplayer games like COD, Halo and Battlefield and with that came expectations of what MP should be.

The TLOU MP even had its own story to it, and the gameplay really clicked with me. Limited resources, tense head to head moments and having to actually rely on other players to win. You couldn't be the lone wolf guy on COD that got 50 kills all by himself which is the change of pace I absolutely needed at the time.

I've played some of the U4 multiplayer and I like it simply because Naughty Dog took a lot of what they learned from TLOU and applied there as they did with their story as well.

Thought I'd pitch in and pretty much second this. I've played through all of Uncharted, and then bought the remaster. Played about an hour of 1 and decided to skip it. 2, 3 and 4 are must plays for me. 4 particularly, my favourite game of the generation so far, and my favourite of the series.

As for playing each after each other getting a bit stale, I think the story for each is good enough to keep you interested.

Thinking about it, man, 4 is so fucking good. Going to replay that over the summer I reckon.

It's honestly amazing that Uncharted is the phenomenon that it is today considering that Uncharted 1 is actually not a very good game in hindsight.

There's a Youtube video that combines cut scenes to tell the story of 1-3. Thinking of just watching that then playing 4. I can always go back and play them down the road.

Just got the PS4, so there's so many exclusives I want to play. Considering trying out Horizon after I get through The Last of Us.
