Regardless, he's not wrong the story isn't amazing but I didn't play a FPS campaign for the story lmao.

It was just a good campaign imo but story wise I agree, it did lack in that area.

After revisiting FFVII recently the story in that game is a lot more coherent than I remember and the individual stories for each character are great.

 

The Last Guardian is also a fantastic example of making a story more effective through gameplay. Shadow of the Colossus too.

 

Mediocre fantasy stories (compared to fantasy novels) and b-movies, good job guys ;D

 

Dark Souls has a really good story I agree

 

I'll take most of the fantasy games I've played to any fantasy novel I've read honestly.

Story took awhile to sink in but I agree.

Initially? Not so much

 

Yeah of course they exist, but a lot of stories that are good don't really hold up if you look beyond video games. It's a young industry though, people are still figuring it out, and a lot has happened in the last 7 years, I'd agree with that.

 

Video game stories are great.

 

They certainly have the capacity to be great. Never understood the argument that the medium is inferior to others in that regard.

Is it more difficult for a video game to have a good story? Of course given how long they can be.

Plenty of great stories and universes out there.
