Yeah, I definitely think it was a good game, and I had fun with it, but it always is surprising to see how many people consider it the best game ever. The writing was incredible, and I am excited to see where their story goes in the sequel.

 

It's probably my pick for best of last gen.

 

I need to go back to tlou. I really enjoyed the story but around the time I became so burnt out on zombies. my friend tried to explain to me how they aren't zombies, and I get what they technically are, but it's zombies basically haha. but I want to go back and push through that and enjoy the story of the characters.

 

the gameplay and the level design was even better than the story imo. story is simple but great

 

Somebody ban this man. Immediately!

 

TLOU is incredible. The story is one of the best I've ever experienced in a videogame and the gameplay itself is equally fantastic. I like the stealth a lot, it's really tense because the clickers feel like a genuine threat throughout the game. Naughty Dog nailed every aspect of TLOU which is obviously why it's so highly regarded in the gaming community.

 

The gaming community is the most hype based community I know

 

Not sure what makes the story so incredible. I think it's got a very irritating ending and people talk about Joel and Ellie like they're the best characters ever. Most of the time they're telling each other off.

Hype based.... we are a few years removed from the game coming out now.

I think evaluations now are a bit more critical and not based in hype

 

The story is great primarily because of Ellie and Joel's relationship. If all you got from it was them "telling each other off", I can't help but feel you kind of missed the point lol

 

The ending works in the confines of who the characters are. Naughty Dog knows how to craft a story.

 

I don't remember them telling each other off much at all.

There was one case of tension that was necessary for Act III to take place, but otherwise it was a very paternal relationship.

 

Ellie and Joel actually feel like real people, which is one of the main reasons why I like them so much

 

I just don't agree about their relationship, and no I'm not missing the point. People talk like there was some massive development, but I didn't see it that way.

 

You are missing the point if you think their relationship was just them "telling each other off". It's incredibly reductive to describe their relationship in those terms. That's fine if you didn't see it that way, doesn't change the fact that you're wrong though.

 

Just gotta agree to disagree then. I think people are over doing it. To me it just seems like we have a problem in stories in games. I prefer Bioshock infinite for what it's worth heh

I liked both quite a bit. Preferred TLOUs gameplay but Infinite's story.

Skyrim is also overrated by the "community" at large, no argument here

 

I will say that the prologue for TLOU is one of the most well crafted, effecting intros in gaming.

 

Yeah like you're "Wrong" about how you spoke to me about Ubisoft's diversity in games but I'm not allowed to have an opinion about the execution of a relationship in a game lol

 

Yes I can agree. Doesn't change the fact y'all are sounding like me when I talk about some other games and get chastised for it though lol
