Wow I just finished The Last Guardian. That was truly a special experience. Probably my Game of the Year (in competition with Overwatch which idk how to even compare the two lol). I did a RedBox rental with the goal of completing it this weekend and juuuust got to the end tonight.

The camera is awful and things get frustrating at points but any negatives are far outweighed by how beautiful this game is and how ALIVE Trico feels. Make sure you stick around for the scene after the credits. The sense of adventure this game gave me felt like the first time I played Ocarina of Time, which is super high praise from me.

Biggest criticism of BF1 so far: some pretty odd difficulty spikes...

 

It'll probably be a PS5 title, to be honest.

Finished Mafia III yesterday, thoroughly enjoyed the game as a whole despite a few flaws. The gun play, driving, characters, plot, music and general atmosphere are all solid. Since I am unlikely to play any new games before the year is up it will definitely be Top 5 for me.

damn, that sucks. I always play healer/support characters in RPGs and FF healers are usually some of my favorite characters. hate having to manage consumables.

 

What do yall think of resi 7 now? Do you think what they've shown is going to be the majority of the game? Running from the Bakers?

wow I think I only played one 2016 game. Battlefield. That's a new one for me.

 

Crap, forgot Firewatch haha. This list is great, we definitely have some overlap. FH3 for the win!

 

oh fuck battlefield 1, forgot that game. That would easily replace dishonoured 2 then. Plying bf1 with my brother online are some of my fav memories from this year.

 

Thanks, been a solid year but if those two I couldn't finish had either gripped me enough to want to play more of it or allowed me to finish the year would've been even better. FFXV has kind of put me off wanting to take risks now because that game was a big risk for me to try and it came ever so close to being a risk that paid off.

 

Yeah, I get that about risks. Banner Saga was that for me. Not really my type of game, but I loved the IDEA of it. Couldn't play more than 15 or so minutes. Just....not for me. But be of good cheer, they do pay of sometimes!

I thought Little Big Planet at first

 

I know they do and Firewatch was also a risk albeit a lot cheaper but I was insanely hopeful for it and was probably 95% of the way through the plot only to be denied because of a lack of communication on the games part, it would of been number three if that hadn't of happened.

 

I want to play Hitman tho
