A criticism I've often heard cited about DA:I is that it's basically a single-player MMO.

    Take that as you will.

There is a world of difference in game design between MMOs and RPGs

Not a fan at all. The world and exploration is good, but I'm not a fan of the combat and there are so many repetitive quests, like there are 100's of rifts all over the world and these expel enemies for you to fight and it felt like major filler after just a few of them and they were so hard to avoid. Same with the other filler quests. If they somehow made a patch to eliminate these types of quests from the mini-map (well, and the game), I think I would have enjoyed it more.

repetitive quests seem like a given in rpgs these days so im not too worried about that.

let's talk about the best song in sleeping dogs radio stations. RealFM is where it's at.

It definitely seems to be heading that way in AAA rpgs. Trying to get more into the CRPG scene as a result. Writing and quest design are pretty much the most important things I look for in a RPG.

Played some Tabletop Simulator, not as clunky as I remember thinking it was. Not perfect and it certainly won't be able to keep pace with playing a physical board game, but it seems like a great way to demo board games (Whether through steam workshop or actual DLC) and get over the typical hurdle of getting a bunch of people over to the same place at once.

(Obviously that's part of the charm in board games, but it's still a fun endeavor over the internet)

Edit: Just found out that the DLC needs to be owned by every player, I mean I get it, but I can definitely see why some in the board gaming community would balk at that. Still I could demo Zombicide for 10 bucks instead of buying the retail at 50 bucks.

  18. I think installing FFXIII on the downstairs computer with the TV--and uninstalling it on the computer in my bedroom--was a mistake. Reinstalled it in my room, since I feel like I'll be more likely to play it because I already spend most of my time up here. I'm going to try to focus on finishing this. No other games. No more distractions.

...I say as I also install Contrast and wait for the Overwatch Christmas event around the corner.

you're not forced to close every single rift, and there are a couple of things that are repetitive but again, there's plenty of diversity in side quests and so many stories, it doesn't really matter. there is enough uniqueness to it that more than balances it out. there's a lot of fun areas to explore, puzzles, lots of rare loot to pick up. the different regions all look unique and they all open up so many new situations. there is so much detail in the characters you meet and their stories, and so many choices you can make with dialogue, and so many ways to customize your character and party. i also didn't expect to be able to control the party so that was a nice surprise. i always talk to my party in the home areas whenever i can to see new mini-stories and have new conversations.

  21. Controlling your party, wasn't that also in Dragon Age 1-2? I think that was thing for Bioware since at least Neverwinter Nights 2. Unless you're referring to something unique to Inquisition that I don't know about (I haven't played it).

It's great don't listen to Dirty. There are some really repetitive side quests, but the characters/party is great. Love the combat, and closing rifts makes you feel like a BA. Plus every open world game has some filler quests.

Also I loved Origins, but heard 2 was a huge misstep. So ether way the consensus amongst fans was that Inquisition being a course corrector.
