Now, trust me when I say this, Patrice isn't as amazing as people seem to think. Jade Raymond is pretty much his THE BENZ!

If he got his way we'd have another Peter Molyneux situation on our hands.

 

You could just quote me you know. Also what @mescalineeyes is doing is more than "disliking" " ..."

 

I never said it's not OK to dislike a studio. but Ubisoft has so many franchises and have put out so many different games both past, present and upcoming so to widely generalize and mention just a few things (Far Cry, Assassin's Creed and Watch_Dogs) is weird to me. But whatever.

 

i don't need to quote you. it was a post to you, @mescalineeyes and @DeviantRogue it's a forum conversation. you're very passionate towards Ubisoft and their games, that's great. other people aren't so.

a lot of people don't like Ubi games because their main franchises have a "formula" a very successful one at that.

 

Yes I know? You don't have to say that. But the way it's being expressed is borderline ridiculous, especially when you haven't played a lot of their recent stuff. I just mentioned a bunch of their ubiart stuff for example, which wasn't addressed.

 

I dunno, having passion in games results in people having strong feelings both positive and negative for various different aspects of gaming, whether it be trends, subculture, games/studios/consoles etc.

Passion is ok, pointed attacks are not.

Adamantantly liking or disliking a studio shouldn't be viewed as problematic unless someone takes it to an offensive/egregious level.

 

There is a reason I've put off trying newer ubisoft titles, it all feels so manufactured to me, very iterative design philosophy.

 

I have only not played AC: Syndicate.

Yeah how mescaline is talking is very egregious, really. And it's unnecessary to take it to that level. There's been plenty of dislike before but it's never been expressed in this overly aggressive or exaggerative manner. But maybe you guys agree with him so it's OK.

 

Not being a dick or meant to jab or anything, but what have you found to be egregious about the conversation thus far?

Definitely don't want to make you or others uncomfortable with enjoying games that I simply don't. I guess tone is hard to interpret in text, what may come across as malignant from my end is really just indifference. We all have our personal tastes, no shame in that.

 

Funny story: I was at an Ubisoft presser a few years ago (when they were demoing the abysmal The Crew) and I got drunk and I kept telling their higher ups that they need to buy Respawn to save the company. I haven't been invited back since. I think they made the right choice.

I disagree and have bought and/or played pretty much every Ubisoft game in the last god knows how long.

 

How is almost everything @mescalineeyes said, or at least, how they said it, not egregious? Is it because you guys agree with him that you think it's totally OK to express it to that extent?

A lot of my critique for Ubi applies to nearly ever other AAA studio as well. I'm just a man who wants new IPs.
