I say I'm not gonna buy the new COD every year.

Then I buy the new COD every year.

Dammit.

 

Yeah I saw that artwork earlier. Doesn't look like any of them are using any kind of exosuit or futuristic tech, which is good. The early word about the game was that it would be near future again, like Black Ops 2, which I'm totally fine with. Like I said, I loved Black Ops 2's PVP game, it was great.

 

I bought it last year after skipping Infinite Warfare and really enjoyed it. I was playing a ton of WWII back in February/March, actually. Most I've enjoyed a CoD game since Black Ops 2, honestly.

 

Yeah, that's the one I enjoyed most in the last 5 years or so. I just found myself buying the more recent ones and only playing them for a week or two and then moving on. The older ones such as BO1&2, MW, and WAW, I played for months.

 

The Xbox Adaptive Controller is absolutely awesome. Props to Microsoft/Xbox.

Grabbed both Darksiders games off PSN for like $5 total

Only played the original. Second one any good?

 

The second one is amazing. It's everything great about the first one plus a Diablo-lite loot system. Only thing that sucks about it is that it ends kind of abruptly with a really easy/anti-climactic final boss. Ton of fun overall though.

 

I hated BO2 multiplayer for a while, not sure why bc a couple of years later I played the heck out of it for a good couple of months

 

i got a few hours into the first Darksiders and really enjoyed it, i need to pick it back up

re: CoD, the Nintendo side of the rumors say the Switch is getting the BR mode, but not the game proper. indicates to me it'll be a stand alone title, i imagine not F2P like Fortnite but with a smaller price tag than PUBG. i think $20 would be a perfect sweet spot. as someone whose biggest barrier to enjoying the genre so far is a perceived lack of polish, i'd be very interested.

 

If there really is no campaign, making the BR mode standalone and paid on PS4/Xbox One/PC would be so stupid. Packaging it in with normal PVP and zombies makes the most sense because millions of people will buy CoD anyway, so the fact that it costs essentially $60 to access the BR mode is neutralized.

Hell, making any standalone BR game not F2P is pretty much guaranteeing it will fail. If there's a monetary barrier to entry you're already starting behind the 8-ball with regard to competing with Fortnite. That and the fact that Fortnite is multiplatform is part of the reason why Epic was able to knock PUBG off of its pedestal, after all.

 

iirc the rumor is that even on the ps4/xb1/pc side the battle royale mode is a "separate" game and its own application/launcher (but included with BO4) so that it stays around longer/gets updated year to year with each new proper call of duty release (though the last time i saw BO4 rumors was like a month ago so that could have been proven false by now). $20 might cut it on the switch side but it'll also be dead as soon as epic gets around to releasing fortnite on switch.

 

Gonna watch this CoD reveal stream and dive into a pizza

 

I hadn't heard that rumor but it makes sense. It'll probably be that the full game comes with a code to download the separate BR app, with the option to purchase it standalone for $20 then. That could work.

 

I believe Fortnite is rumored to be announced for the Switch at E3

 

or they could package it separately and make $80+ instead of $60. which sounds more Activision?

i would rather pay $20 for a BR with AAA polish than play Fortnite for free

The could do that, but it would make it even harder to compete with Fortnite. And that's what they'll have to do in order to make the kind of money they want to make from this mode. And especially if there's no campaign, no way they survive the PR backlash of charging $80 to also get the BR mode.

I think including a voucher for the BR app with a $60 purchase, while giving the option to buy it separately for $20 males the most sense.

 

It would be nice if they just ported Ravens COD BR

 

lol focusing the beginning of your stream on the beloved campaign of Black Ops 1 when you're about to announce a campaign-free Black Ops 4 is maybe not the best idea haha

 

on one hand i wouldn't put anything past activision and wouldn't be entirely surprised if you only got the battle royale mode in a more expensive edition a la MW remastered, on the other they need to have something else in the BO4 standard edition if they're truly getting rid of the campaign.

(fwiw fortnite is the most polished early access game i've ever played, epic has been pretty fantastic about updating it with modes/weapons/contents and fixing issues)

 

It’ll be Ravens BR here, albeit a new one. Rumored that they are handling the BR.
