I originally felt the same but hearing Cory talk about how when he was writing all of that stuff it ended up being less about this specific journey and relationship and how there needs to be more than just one game to properly tell the story made me a bit more satisfied with the ending. Having seen some theories about how it's going to go and also thinking about possibilities myself also has me liking where it ended a lot more. There's so much to tell here and I'm glad it wasn't all forced into one game.

I'm also very happy that we're probably getting at least two more of these since this is just behind Bloodborne and Nier: Automata for me this gen.

 

Also in case anyone missed it Cory said that all of the in game markers on things you can interact with and climb were left by Faye to guide your journey. Thought that was such a cool way to tie in common gameplay mechanics with narrative.

 

Honestly I don't see how Cory can have five games envisioned in this part of the world based on that extra cutscene and what you learn is happening after you get back from that last place. Like, it seems to me that there could only be one more game set in this part of the world, based on that. So maybe he has a plan to go to another part of the world after? It's going to be interesting to see what direction they take (and what they do with the PS5 hardware, like holy crap if this game looks this good on PS4 I can't imagine what the next one will look like on next-gen hardware).

 

I think there's probably one or two left. I can see game 2 focusing on Thor and 3 on Odin but there's also a ton of other stuff I've read in Norse myth that they can explore including spending more time in the other realms which is something they wanted to do a bit here but didn't have time to fully finish. God of War 2 was my favourite of the old series so I have super high expectations for the next game and yeah, I'm sure it's going to look insane.

 

Yeah I mean we didn't even get to explore Asgard, Vanaheim, and Svartalfheim in this one, so if they blew at least one of those up to the size of Midgard in this one, and then made the other two relatively big as well, plus threw in new parts of the six realms we saw in this game, that would be enough for at least another whole game. It'll be exciting to see, whatever the case, and I'll be there Day One for sure.

 

Even though it's over a year old I feel like I need to start a Nier Automata thread because I just wanna talk about it all the time

 

How is there not a GoW thread considering how many of us are playing it?

I’ve been diving deep into the lore of the series after beating Nier haha. There’s so much amazing stuff in the series

 

I wanna learn about the Drakengards badly (mainly 1)

Nier made Automata so much more interesting than it already was

 

Yeah it was all so amazingly tied together. Have you read any of the fan translations of Grimoire Nier? That also adds a fuck ton of backstory/timeline stuff

Once I finish the last two endings of Nier I’m probably gonna replay Automata and then give Drakengard a try despite everyone’s recommendations to just watch it haha

 

for people with a PS4. If you want a fun and cute turn based jRPG with dungeon crawling, puzzles, and big boss fights, get World of FF. it's an endearing story that has you encounter all the major FF characters.

Never realised it's turn based, that actually has me intetested. Is the combat comparable to any FF games you've played or is it a different system?

 

It's a bit different. it's active time battle, so that should be familiar. but there's stacking as well: World of Final Fantasy - How the Stacking System Works

alright so red dead 2 is gonna be the best game ever huh

 

gta v still holds up super super well but i never touched gta online again after the first month.

 

Smart choice. I have a friend who pesters me to play it all the time but it takes about 40 minutes just to set a mission up. Then you get matched with griefers or people who just plain suck and make you fail, then they end up quitting and the mission is cancelled. The races are sometimes fun. Sometimes.

 

i remember after like a week i pretty much only did races lol
