Disney Might Take Star Wars License Away from Electronic Arts

I have hopes for respawns sw game, but I won't be sad. EA losing the license will make up for that loss lol.

 

If ubisoft gets it, we'll get some good open world games. Maybe even Tom Clancy's Republic Commando.

I personally don't think Dinsey wants to kill off those E.A. mobile games just yet

Well, keep in mind they've replaced several directors recently when they weren't happy with the direction. I totally could see them kicking EA out, especially with the success Ubisoft has had recently.

Man....just think a Star Wars FPS by the team behind Far Cry series...

 

It's possible, but it would be so disruptive that I doubt it, especially because those E.A. games do make a lot of money. It'd be a different story if the bottom were falling out. But who knows. Ubisoft would be cool though.

 

I honestly can't see Disney backing out of a deal with EA.

It just feels undisney for some reason.

Yes. It would be so savage, and it would rub a lot of people the wrong way in the industry.

 

I feel like Disney has that clout where they could probably get any developer they want even if they were to cut EA off.

I just feel like even with all the controversy EA still managed to get good enough sells to break even for now.

I mean, Disney does have a history of abruptly canceling projects that would make millions upon millions of dollars. Their most valuable asset in their view is their brand image, and they’ll absolutely cut off a revenue stream if they think it’ll cause damages to that image. Considering those reports that Bob Iger himself had to get on the phone with EA execs in the wake of the Battlefront II drama, I’d be surprised if they weren’t considering other options. Combine that with the fact that Battlefront II, while very profitable, severely underperformed against expectations, and I’m certain that taking to other publishers. That said, there’s no certainty anything will come out of it.

 

Yeah, but people change jobs, move around, HOLD GRUDGES, and in the end it's maybe more trouble than it's worth.

 

Disney is pretty wild that's true. E.A. isn't just another studio you can close though.

 

honestly I welcome anything that's a slap in the face of EA

such a dumb company that has nothing but contempt for its customers.

 

All I know is a lot of phone calls are being made and dinner plans are being cancelled right about now
