I'm a medical transcriptionist! Some of them are great, but others are just absolutely terrible! Today I got to hear one chewing on gum the entire time. Nothing like that sound loud in your ears for 30 minutes straightX-(

I'm SOOOOO frustrated right now. Have a (what I think is a) very simple work related question. I know the answer, but my supervisor disagrees with my answer, so we asked other team leads and managers and got 10 conflicting answers from 10 different people. None of them were at all confident in their answers (except for me) but all of them tried to argue with me and tell me I was wrong even when I presented them with undeniable evidence from reputable online sources that we all use daily.

So are you just listening to audio of doctor's saying what they did and translating it into text (medical records)? Or are you coding?

Also pretty fed up with new hires that ask you how to do something and then get upset when the answer involves them actually having to do work.

No coding involved at all. Just typing what they say or editing the text if it goes through the voice recognition system (which is a joke let me tell you!!)

Sounds like an easy enough job on paper, but I can imagine it's terribly frustrating at times.

My work is getting to the point where there's at least one call off per day, and we're very understaffed. People either quit shortly after being hired or someone gets fired. Not my problem. I shouldn't have to keep coming in on my day off, come in early or stay late. It's to the point where they want to start scheduling people to be "on call" on their days off. It's like they think no one has a life/they only treat certain people that way. They won't dare to call in someone who has a kid, which is kinda discriminatory imo. Mindset is like "they have kids so I won't call them in" and the few people who don't have kids... "they're obviously not doing anything or have anything to do, I must call them in". Again not my problem they hire people who are not reliable. I've been busting my ass for over a year coming in most of the time on my day off. I can never get anything done because I always get called to work. They have no one to work weekends, because when they hire new people they give them the weekends off while telling others they have to work a weekend. So frustrating. And I have to deal with lazy co worker who runs off and does who knows what, therefore forcing me to do her job on top of my job I have to do- AND I feel I haven't been able to do it properly like I use to.

edit: speaking of, and considering the supervisor meeting we had and how we all talked about how we should be informed/asked if we're scheduled outside our normal time/days, I'm down for a double. I already told my boss, no a few days ago and to let me know, bc I was scheduled past my normal shift and was sick and not allowed to leave (which is illegal), and I wasn't even asked. AND I'm expected to come in the next day for my regular shift. So mad rn.

So pissed rn. My boss text me telling I'm need to work late tomorrow, which means the fucking double that is illegal and I did not agree to. Again not my problem they can't find people. They always say other people get to take turns, but it always seems to be me that gets the short end of the stick. Every. Time. I'm gonna see if I can have the following day off then. I really don't want to fall asleep on the road but they don't care. It's like "we need someone". I need to put my foot down and say I will most definitely not do it anymore and it's someone else turn. Plus I have appointments in the morning that is totally disrespected.

I feel like I keep making multiple posts in here, but I have updates/things to vent. So I talked to my boss, and basically I'm being forced against my will to work the extra hours. I tried to compromise and it was a no. I'm still expected to come to my normal shift regardless of lack of sleep, because I asked to come in a little later. Apparently computer training is more important than my health because that was the excuse. If my boss is there tomorrow I need to try to ask again. They don't care about your health and make certain people come in when they're sick. I wonder if I can go to my doctor and get a note saying I can't work past a certain hour and they can't go against it

I wish my mom didn't need to use a computer for her work shit bc I am so sick of fixing it for her omg. It is like a daily occurrence. I am not a computer whiz. I just google shit and hope it tells me the answer!! Just do that like everyone else! And stop yelling at me when I tell you idk how to fix it! I honestly don't even know how she fucks stuff up so badly so much. Like the one time she somehow set everything to German??? Like how the hell did she do that???

I don't get why a lot of older people don't even attempt to try to learn how to use a computer

Like I had to show my grandpa how Facebook works? It's so straightforward

My mom insists she is great at using a computer LOL And she believes it bc everyone else she knows her age is even worse than her so she helps them (and by helps I mean shows them how to copy and paste). She thinks she is a whiz bc she can find her photos and documents and print stuff. But now she has Windows 10 so guess who has to show her where everything is again :verysad:It's never ending!

LOL I work and an office and have to troubleshoot/fix everyone's issues. The older people can't even figure out how to fix a jammed copier, it's insane. I showed them how the numbers on the screen correspond to the trays, showing you exactly where the jam is. They still come to me because they're "afraid they're going to break it".

Trying to find a place to live in a city that is 350 miles away is not very fun

Update: I think I just found a spot

My boss scheduled me for a double again without asking even after I turned in updated availability saying no. im pretty pissed because I have an appointment the following morning and can't do it. I'm going to get a doctors note specifically stating I cannot stay/work past a certain hour for it makes my insomnia worse blah blah blah. And if they go against that. I'll probably quit on the spot

Edit: I also hurt my lower back last time I was forced to stay. I've been in a lot of pain and don't want to make it worse

Since everyone is complaining about old people and technology. I do not understand how people have been in the workforce for 20+ years and are so computer illiterate. Blows my mind. It's like for the past 20 years they've just been actively avoiding saying dumb shit like back in my day we used crayons or some shit.

My advice is either having a place to stay/visiting/AirBnB and just searching locally. Looking online my neighborhood is in the 1,400 range but I went up here and within a day found a local place for $1,095.

I hate people who talk at shows. If it is when the band is just setting up, it's totally fine. But when the band is playing SHUT UPPPPPPPP. Went to a show last night and the people behind me talked the entire fucking show. And when anyone would ask them to please be quiet, they would just talk louder. They were so obnoxiously loud. It was so rude and I missed half of the show bc of them. I also had some drunk asshole walk right down the middle of my blanket and smash all my snacks and then almost burn my face with her cigarette. I just wanted my cookies and cheez its and to hear the show :tear:

same it's so distracting and rude, plus what's the point of them even being there if they're just gonna talk the whole time
