I LOATHE people who act like that. It's not fucking hard to have the slightest degree of situational awareness and realize what's on the menu.

 

This happened a couple of weeks ago, but it's still seeping under my skin.

Important fact for the story: I am studying Programming and hoping to go into making video games in community college. I started out studying cyber security stuff.

Okay, so my uncle, who I talk to/see maybe 3 or 4 times a year, and I were walking to his car after my brother's HS graduation and as I'm trying to pull up what I have so far of Pong in JavaScript, he tells me that I "need" to get out of my major and go back to my old one (I've been doing programming for two semesters). He says he knows someone who went to SCAD (an ART school in GA, keep that in mind) and studied what I'm studying, and now works at CVS. He says only a couple of people get hired a year and that there's only a handful of video game companies. Didn't even ask me how my classes went, or anything like that. Both of those things are completely untrue. I was very hurt and just kept going along with him, he's kind of intimidating.

First off, obviously since SCAD is an art school, I'm going to go out on a limb and say they don't have a computer science program. I assume that guy studied like the art aspects of creating video games. Pretty different things. Second, even if I was studying that, who the fuck do you think you are? You can't just fucking tell me what to do with my life like that. Like, maybe if he was paying for my college or something like that I'd listen, but he isn't soooooo. I could live with the suggestion (it's been made before) but that's not what he was saying.

I don't remember what my uncle's major was, but I know he went to either 3 or 4 different universities and has a minor in French...like, kiss the fattest part of my ass.

Just ate a rice krispy square so stale it hurt my jaw to chew it. So not only am I in jaw pain, but my hopes of enjoying a delicious snack have been wickedly dashed.

It's been a truly awful 2 minutes.

 

I was contracted for three separate gigs a month ago and I haven't been paid for any of them yet. I don't usually like to complain about it because I take what I can get and I'm always appreciative when I do get them, plus there is a stipulation that they can hold off on sending checks out for up to 45 days. That being said, the companies I often work for don't tend to keep people waiting like this and oh god I really need the money right now. Every time I check the mailbox and it's empty or just junk my heart heaves a sigh.

 

I'm tired of my place of work but I haven't been able to find a full time job in my area. I want to get out of food service so badly. There's a full time food service supervisor positron open at a hospital but I don't want to work around food. Plus I rather work in a place first before becoming a supervisor. I feel like I'm constantly getting lame shifts while new people get better shifts. I put in so much work and effort and it feels like I do that for nothing. If I didn't need the money badly I'd quit right now. My student loan repayment has started so that's a big chunk of my paycheck.

 

I lost fifteen pounds and now five pairs of pants don't fit. BUT. Not in the good way of being too big. They're now TOO TIGHT. What in the actual fuck.

 

Your uncle is incredibly out of touch with how massive the video game industry has become apparently. I mean, it sounds like he cares about you but is just incredibly ignorant about how things actually are with what you're pursuing. Beyond that, don't let his words tear you down. In everything you'll ever want to do with your life, people like him will try to stop you. Rise above that and do you, it's your life to live. Not theirs.

My sister. She never thinks anything through then complains when it doesn't go her way. Last year, she decided to move to the literal opposite side of the country with a couple friends. Those friends dropped out because they realized it was a bad idea. She went anyways. Doesn't even know anyone there. Ends up with a psychopath of a roommate and still doesn't know anyone. Then her very short lease ends and because she never bothered to find a job or try to meet anyone, she's now back at home, whining about how hard her life is.

And this isn't even remotely the first time she's done shit like this. She dropped out of expensive art school twice. A few years ago, she decided to move to a different state to live with her online boyfriend. She never bothered to find a job there either and then broke up with him because she "never saw him" because he worked 50 hours a week. She knew how much he works when she moved up there!

My parents try to help her with emotional and financial support but she doesn't give a shit. She just wants a pity party constantly and take everything my parents do for granted. She doesn't care about anyone but herself, and if anyone tries to be happy around her, she tears it down.

This turned into a long post. Sorry. She's just really pissing me off.

My sister came home (shes 6 hours away) for a wedding last weekend..came home a day earlier than originally planned and didn't call me..fully aware that I'm home all day on Thursdays. Really bummed me out because I would have liked to see her and my niece (2). Now if I were to drive to HER neighboring town and NOT tell her..Id be the worst person in the world. She also made a big deal about my husband and I not going down for lil misses 2nd birthday (we were at the first)...but it was slow time at his work and we were lucky he still had a job. Not the time to be asking off work. Also her friends and their shitty spouses were staying at the house..no sorry. don't want to be in that crowded hellhole for a weekend. It was "selfish" of us and "shes your niece" were thrown in my face alot.

 

i'm sharing a 3-bedroom apartament with three guys: one is my best friend and the other two are a couple who we found by luck. we're splitting the rent four ways and it's great and cheap... until the couple started doing little cinema sessions in the living room every. fucking. weekend.

so we live in 6-8 people during 1/3 of the month, the electric bill goes through the roof, the house is always messy and they don't even bother to tune the volume down after 10pm, which is supposed to be quiet time. not like i haven't asked them several times, either.

we're on the verge of getting fined but if they leave the rent would be very expensive (even if we found another guy, don't ever wanna get a couple again) and there's nothing me and my friend can do and ugh.

 

My dryer takes 2-3 cycles to dry everything! So if I put a load in there and go to work and forget about it it gets all mildewy and i have to wash it again!

 

I remembered today I have a tablet. Charged it and went to Chorus and realized I have to type my username again.

 

How do people typically refer to you here? I just call you Table Flip.

 

I love Diane Guerrero but I'm beginning to think she doesn't love me back.
