This coming from the guy who said A Very Murray Christmas was the best film of 2015 :crylaugh:

It is. A perfect anti-Christmas Christmas film.

I watched one episode of Mad Men and figured I have no interest in spending time with these characters

I avoided Mad Men for a long time because I thought I had a major twist (like a series finale kind of twist) spoiled for me, only to find out it comes up really early in the show!

  6. Mad Men has felt like the most "you either get it or you don't" (for the lack of a better expression) show out of everything I've watched. It's one of my all times faves and I could've easily spent many more seasons with these characters... but I've never been able to make someone else get into it or to properly pitch it, ironically.

I'll go back occasionally and watch some of my favorite Mad Men episodes. I don't know if I could ever binge it again though.

Mad Men is a top five drama. The low budget really shows in some places (they almost never go outside, there is a hilariously bad explosion scene in Season One), and basic cable makes it feel weirdly tame in parts, but the relationships and the grace in which they comment on the Sixties is incredible.

I'll get to Mad Men after we do The Wire. After watching The Sopranos, I feel like I need to catch up on all the prestige stuff

I watched one season of mad men back in college and enjoyed it but never continued for some reason.

The first season is great but it is probably the worst season. It is too plot-determined and they hadn't really captured the tone. The latter half of the show is better.

The way they make Pete likeable after the first season is really amazing storytelling. I was hoping he was a one season villain,

I'm with you. I really enjoyed watching and it deserves all the praise it got, but I don't think I've ever went back and watched it after the finale.

It’s a rich show that can speak to so many different things on repeat viewings. As far as TV goes, it’s as high art as the medium can get next to the likes of the Wire, Sopranos, peak Simpsons, and Twin Peaks

I'm not proud of it but I always thought shows like Mad Men and The Wire seemed boring so I never wanted to watch them, but now that I'm more mature I have more of an interest in them but ironically have a lot less free time to dedicate to them

Yeah I hate that movie. It’s very clearly a 25 minute plot stretched to movie length.
