I kind of agree in the sense that I would prefer every other punchline on Abbott Elementary didn’t end with them looking at the camera. But the show is still great regardless.

 

Exactly why i haven’t tried watching Abbott Elementary despite all the buzz

 

No reason not to support a great show with a necessary worldview.

 

Are you saying I (or anyone) should watch the show even if they don’t think they’d enjoy it because it has a necessary worldview?

 

Yeah, it's a beacon of hope among contemporary network sitcoms. A network show with the ability to be seen by many that also stands up for kids and teachers at this time in our country's history is necessary in my opinion. Throw it on in the background while you do something else, idk

 

I had hopes but have found it kind of a drag. And yeah it really abuses the “look at the camera” thing (our generation’s similarly played out version of the laugh track). But it’s less about that specific show or the other new one on Fox and more just that it’s kind of a tired format

 

I do agree that the mockumentary is a tired format haha

I’ve never heard of Abbott Elementary until right now. I’m truly 100% out of touch with what’s one TV these days, lol.

there are plenty of shows that aren’t “enjoyable” per se that warrant watching bc the worldview they present. their original post wasn’t that complicated

 

I don’t know, I don’t think I should be urged to watch a show just because it has a good message. If I don’t think I’ll enjoy the style of the show why would I watch it
