I think Tim talked numbers on a Bad Christian episode last time he was on. Maybe I’m misremembering

Yup. Pretty much every band is doing a discography run now. Excited for JEW and TSL

I'm guessing they only did those first three to see how they did financially, and assuming they came out well enough, I see not reason why they wouldn't also do Disambiguation and Erase Me

They teased the album covers for the two albums after their TOCS performance. I'm sure it'll happen

Natural follow up question is how much do they make per year anyway lol. I imagine it varies a lot year to year but I have like no concept of how much scene-size bands make, and it blows my mind when certain bands’ members seem to do really really well financially.

I always think about this quote from Stephen Christian after Anberlin broke up back in 2014:

“I think that if you take all twelve years, and you add them up, and you divide them by twelve, I guarantee — I guarantee, and you can call the person who does my taxes — that I make less than a McDonald’s manager,”

I guess I think of Anberlin and Underoath being somewhat comparable, although Underoath's heyday may have been bigger and lasted a bit longer. But then again, Anberlin is dividing by five as opposed to six.

Underoath really should be pulling in good money. Their initial reunion tour alone played 1500-2500 cap venues and sold out like crazy. They did a tour with BMTH, then headlined a tour playing similar caps with DGD supporting them... Add in the opening slot for the Korn/Breaking Benjamin tours along with several festivals- I don’t think Underoath and Anberlin are as comparable as they should be. Everything about Underoath’s comeback was done well- shoot, even Erase Me had like 10 variants and special colored covers and merch bundles. The band is really good at selling their product and their fan base buys in. I would love to see how much money a typical “metalcore” brings in compared to the “pop punk / emo” style bands that play similar level shows/bills. I feel like metal fans pay stupid amounts of money for merch lol.

Yeah I’m not an Anberlin fan, but I don’t think their fan base/popularity is comparable at all.

I was trying to come up with a ballpark frame of reference as it relates to scene bands, but I probably misfired.

I dunno man, sounded pretty legit to me. I often think of UØ and Anberlin as sister bands. Especially with band members being related.

Was at the Anberlin/UØ show two years ago and seemed perfect.

On the surface, they should be similar. I think they're one of the best comparable options, maybe the best. Overall, they played slightly smaller rooms in my city, and did more support tours (but honestly, really cool support tours - 30 Seconds To Mars, Smashing Pumpkins). The two bands have very similar monthly listeners, and both have a couple of hits that really help them accumulate plays.

    hmmm

If they're making that much, they can damn well play The Changing Of Times and Cries Of The Past while they're at it.

I mean, obviously not but that would be ace.

I dont think theyd event want to know how to play those songs at this point. I bet the demand/interest for it would be <5% of any of these other streams. Disam and Erase Me need to happen sooner than later though!

Does anyone know what the latest projected release date for the vinyl preorder from July? Can't seem to find anything.

Sent them an email because I am moving end of the month and they recommended updating the order for my new address. Didn't give me a clear answer on timing but sounds like they won't be ready in the next two weeks. Not much of a help but thought the same thing today.
