I was listening to the new noise magazine playlist and Rapture popped on, actually really enjoyed it.

If On My Teeth is the heaviest song on here, I'll be happy. I love that song so much.

Interesting write up. I definitely can't wait to hear it for myself. Melodic Underoath hasn't failed me yet so I'm hoping those parts are great on here too!

It also helps that all expectations of it sounding like old Underoath are gone! Ready to go into this with an open mind!

Are there any tracks that don't have a basic verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus format? Also thanks for the write up dude the album definitely sounds interesting.

I just don't really like Spencer's singing voice very much.

    I’d say so, yeah.

    It’s better than Aaron’s imo

From what I've heard of Aaron recently in these new songs and the live video posted a few pages back I think they're both bad but I really liked Aaron's singing on DTGL and LITSOS.

I think they are both great singers. I've always liked Aaron's voice on everything he's sang.

I’m still so curious how this album will be received. Obviously other “scene” metalcore bands have attempted stylistic shifts similar to this with varying degrees of success... and I do think this is one of the best “scene band goes mainstream” albums if we’re gonna make that an arbitrary category.

That being said, the fact that Underoath is so respected among lots of metal fans and haven’t released an album in eight years may actually work against the fan response to this, at least initially. It’ll be interesting to see.

Disclaimer: im not a big Underoath fan. generally something i appreciate from afar but ive never really been super in to. i definitely prefer their last couple releases and the style they were going for as opposed to the older stuff.

i like this. the two singles are pretty easily the worst songs here, the rest of it fares much better on first impressions. if you like this band and youre down with them going for a more streamlined, borderline commercial sound then you will more than likely dig this. Bloodlust is without a doubt my favorite song here and is a legitimately great song.

I wish Spencer did all of the singing and screaming, i really dislike Aarons vocals.

Funny enough that one’s grown on me quite a bit. I still think the verses especially on that song on stellar.

Definitely agreed about the vocals, to me Spencer is hands-down the better vocalist.

Are you talking about this record only or do you think albums like LITSOS would be better without Aaron’s vocals

All their albums would be better without Aaron's vocals. It's part of the reason why Disambiguation is their best.

honestly all of them. i was talking with @beachdude42 about this but his voice is just so scratchy sounding, it just never sounds quite right to me. i fully recognize that a lot of people really like his vocals and songwriting but im not one of them. i much prefer Spencer at the helm.

    I do not exist.

Woah, what’s this Aaron vocal negativity?!

I knew people preferred Spencer’s vocals but didn’t realise people actively hated Aaron’s. Personally, it’s the combination that made Underoath what they were for me. LITSOS perfected the trade off for me.

Yea like, I can get someone not liking it because it's much more "whiny scene kid voice" (Not that I think that but I could see some people thinking that) than Spencer's and what Underoath ended up becoming, but I personally still really like it. Team Aaron AND Spencer voice love right here.

Aaron’s voice is undeniably sceney. Dude belts 80% of his melodies, which is why i think he gets that description attached to him, but I personally like it because it sounds desperate and unapologetic paired with spencer’s empassioned growls
