Mehhhhhh I really hope that’s the only song with that type of sound on the record.

It sounds like a push for radio and that’s just... not Underøath to me.

Still blast “On My Teeth” once a day though- love that song.

 

Rapture and Wake Me are the two songs on the album that sound like this.

um my top three are probably Sink With You, ihateit, and No Frame

honestly tracks 6-11 is an incredible run of music from the band

In regards to the "radio rock" label - I wish I had radio stations that played stuff like this where I am hah. I feel like it's just pop/hiphop/country and then some classic rock stations.

 

Was into the first single, but not so much this one. We'll see if it grows on me once the album is out.

 

I feel like I kinda hate these lyrics, if I’m hearing them correctly.

That wasn’t good. I was hoping for an explosive bridge or ending to help save it, but nope.

 

I'm into this. Props to them for giving something like this shot. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

 

...I don't hate it? It doesn't really grab me on the first listen, but it's not awful.

 

I really like the post-chorus.

Spencer sounds like he's been listening to the last Thrice record a lot.

Aaron singing on the bridge was the only thing that reminded me I was listening to Underoath. The rest of this is not interesting to me at all, I'm afraid.

 

I don't really hear any connection between this and the last Thrice record.

I already like these first two UO songs better than that entire record

 

Spencer's singing is pretty clearly influenced by Dustin.

 

As a fan of both, I very strongly disagree.

There are other vocalists Spencer kinda reminds me of, but Dustin isn't the first artist to have a "gritty" singing voice. Spencer sounds just as much like John Nolan as Dustin Kensrue lol.

 

The 'grittiness' is only a part of it. The way he structures his melodies on this new song, especially on the chorus, is very Dustin-esque. And given Spencer was a pretty huge fan of the last Thrice record, the link is a pretty obvious one.

 

That was bad. But maybe it’ll fit better in the context of the album as a whole..?
