I want to like that album, but Dallas' voice makes it impossible for me. Wish they would have rerecorded it with Spencer

I've been starting this on Bloodlust and listening all the way through. Only track I like from the first 4 is On My Teeth.

Theres no part of me that thinks this record is better than any of the last three, but I've already listened to this album in full more times than I've listened to any other underoath album ever.

    Really loving this album.

Side story: Aaron was on tour with Nate Hussey and the guy from the Academy is, we all were doing back to back to back shots, Aaron suddenly said said “oh shit, I gotta go sing some songs about Jesus.”

You would never notice it. He played great. Maybe his shots were water. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’d like to see Aaron lead another verse or two but I largely agree. Each of his parts is perfect.

Also, loneliness may now be my favorite track but it’s one issue is the same thing that hold your breath, my previous favorite, suffered from: the transitions are a bit too abrupt, especially between spencer and Aaron. It’s a clear sign of them writing an underoath song first and worrying about the pop sensibilities after. Same happens in HYB, the chorus is such a jarring change from the verse.

I also wish the second verse/breakdown in loneliness was slower. It’s over too quickly and abruptly right into Aaron.

Listened to this twice on release day and still haven’t wanted to return to it. I honestly really disliked my listening experiences enough that I don’t know if i want to give this record another chance. I might in the future. Who knows?

  8. I honestly forgot this album came out until an ad for it popped up in my facebook feed. Gave it another listen and it still really doesn't do much for me, in a good or bad way. Man, I loved the three prior records. It sucks to feel such ambivalence towards this one.

I just keep liking it more and more... getting to a point where I’ve played it so much it’s going to be hard to leave off my top 10 eoty list.. even if it’s a guilty pleasure

Yeah I still like this a lot. For a new direction, it's nice that it's one that I enjoy.

I’ve probably listened to Dtgl and tocs 3-400 times each but I’ll probably end up playing this more than the last 2 even if those are my favorite underoath records lol

My thoughts exactly. It won't top TOCS's number of playthroughs in a long while, but I'm pretty sure it's closing in on DTGL.
I'm having a real hard time putting on anything other that Erase Me, and it's been like that for over a week now.

I also think this is exactly what they were going for. As Spencer said on the Lead Singer Syndrom podcast, they didn't just want to make a record that would make the fans happy, cause that would've been forgotten after two weeks.

I cannot for the life of me get into Sink With You though, no matter how many times I listen to it.
It just gets too industrial or something for me, I don't know. Don't like the vocals either.

I think I'm gonna replace Sink With You with the two Target bonus tracks on the album. #fightme

    I do not exist.

It's definitely one of my favourite releases so far in 2018. Never would have guessed that after one or two listens. The more I listen to it the less it is a 'guilty pleasure'. It's actually just a good and highly listenable album.

Okay this record is growing on me a lot more than I thought it would. I still find a lot of it kind of boring, but it’s catchy enough I can handle it for a bit.

This is definitely gonna be very high on my eoty list. The replay value is simply too good.
Also, there are lots of things in this life we refer to as guilty pleasures, whether they should or shouldn’t be; this is way too good to fall into that category.

We reach for the longest shadow

I can't remember the last time I did so fast of a 180 on an album. I actually like Wake Me now.

This album is anything but a guilty pleasure and in agreement with everyone here. It's aging fine, I'm at about 30+ plays and it hasn't gotten old yet

I would get tired of any album after 30+ listens in a matter of weeks.

This is good. Probably listened to it twice a day since it came out. Don't know how much lasting value this will have, but this will likely be high on my EOTY list.

Bloodlust has definitely grown on me the most since I first listened. Despite the hook being a bit generic, the way it moves from those minimalistic verses to the huge chorus is done SO nicely.

I’m surprised bloodlust wasn’t an immediate grab for a lot of people. such a huge sounding chorus, classic Aaron in the back half too.

So is the consensus that the band messed up by putting Loneliness as a bonus track?

Man, I kinda agree. This I find myself skipping Sink With You more than I should (can't get that Static X comparison out of my head lol). I think putting the bonus tracks in that place works really well because from Wake Up through ihateit, the album slows down and could use a pick me up like Loneliness.
