You could eliminate a lot of the lies in print media with one simple piece of legislation, any correction made has to be printed on the same page and in the same manner as the lie that has been corrected.

Master of not knowing what the hell I'm doing.

It'd be useful. I can understand that it's a fine line between stopping misinformation being spread and preventing freedom of speech, but if Broadcast can do it you wonder why written content is any different.

That is why I like that idea, it doesn't prevent freedom of speech it just makes the media accountable for what they print.

most of this is fair, but them not challenging dup on social issues is just a lie and criticism of them closing schools in the north while opposing it in the south absolutely does not address that they are forced to close the schools by the constraints of the ludicrous power-sharing arrangement in a uk constituent "country" or whatever that gets the absolute brunt of tory austerity

Would you agree with her conclusion that they're more of a centrist party than on the left? I know almost nothing about Irish politics lol.

i think they're a mishmash of centre to left akin to the snp that you get with parties whose main stated goal is a republic. they do have some proper leftists in their ranks (eoin รณ broin is good) but overall, yes i would call them more centrist. in the north they can tend to go more centre, with some even being a little right because catholicism is stronger there. in the south, dublin especially, they resonate with the working class and tend to go a bit more left. leadership wise (adams, o'neill, mcdonald), i would say more centrist than leftist for sure.

Anyone get that feeling that we're just going to get entirely screwed over...?!

Understandably the EU are wanting to make it tough enough so that others don't leave but I feel like it sounds so poorly thought through from our government that we're just going to hear of months and months of own goals.

Yeah who would've thought a referendum proposed as a throwaway promise in an election run purely to win ukip votes would've been a bad idea.

How can we not house people closer than Preston...?

I assume they can, but it's cheaper and helps clear out people that are considered "undesireable". The same thing happened when Hurricane Katrina happened years ago. There are people that were dispersed throughout the country, but could never go back and the city was remade in the image of the local oligarchs.

Question: Does this mean they're unable to form a government? How is May governing currently, if she hasn't even gotten this in place yet?

I have no idea haha. It seems like everything is going ahead even though a deal hasn't been made:

I don't really understand how they're able to get away with it.
