I knew Tyler wasn't winning but seeing his face after hearing who won made me sad.

  4. This album is still such a fucking accomplishment for him in every way. It's been my go-to recently anytime I'm in my feelings.

Just got back from the tour and it was incredible. Vince killed it, and Tyler was just incredible. So glad I finally saw him live after all of these years and he put on such an amazing show. Practically perfect setlist, awesome stage production, and he was a great mix between energetic, atmospheric, and hilarious as a performer

apparently people were tweeting about Vince being bad last night, which is weird because last time he was in dc people did the same

It's not the first time I've heard less than glowing reviews about Vince Staples. I haven't seen him yet (f u long ass line the Friday of Pitchfork last year), but I'm still pretty excited for Saturday. I'm sure I'll have a great time

the exact same tweets were basically last time in dc. I think the dc crowd just doesn’t give him the right energy (or expects something different)

I heard it about his Pitchfork set last year, but if the problem is that he needs the right energy from his crowd, then a festival slot is probably going to suffer from the same problem (especially one that is more laid back like Pitchfork).

The crowd was actually pretty good for him last night, and I thought he did a good job. Not the best live rapper I've ever seen or anything but he blew the time I saw him open for Gorillaz last summer away. He doesn't really move around a lot or shout his lyrics like a lot of rappers do live but he sounded great and his production was awesome.

Side note, Tyler didn't say the "f word" (not fuck, sorry, not sure the best way to say this) a single time, even when he was playing his old stuff. He's really matured a lot with this album cycle

Vince’s live shows are definitely an acquired taste. I love it, but can totally see why it wouldn’t be someone’s vibe.

  14. I've only seen him at a small club and midsized club but he was extremely good both times, especially the smaller show.

I saw Vince at Coachella in the EDM stage and couldn't get into it, but seeing him open for Gorillaz was amazing even though he covered himself in fog 90% of the time

Thankfully. I’m curious how he’s handling the misogynistic language and themes in his older work. Obviously grappling with internalized bigotry is important but there’s less pressure (internally and externally) for him to address misogyny and I can’t help but wonder if he’ll do it at all. Lord knows most men making music never do.

He did play She and Yonkers still (though he didn't get very far into the latter before cutting it), but I definitely got the impression that was more out of wanting to please the fans. Very possible I'm just reading too far into it though lol

Artists don’t usually love playing the old stuff anyway but I’ll hold out hope lol I’m still a fan tbh, have been for a while

  19. This is awesome to hear. Hopefully he just outright drops Yonkers at some point.

Tyler being 27 makes me feel old even though he's 5 years older than me
