Yea. I'm excited. The original plan was to just drive up to a place we like in New Hampshire, but we decide to change course the other day. It'll be a blur, but I think worth it.

There's been talk of trying to do Europe this year, but I dunno if it'll happen. If not, i want to explore some more National Parks. Canadas are free all year, and I've been itching to get out to Zion.

Too bad it's only a weekend. Still, though, that sounds like it'll be a good trip. Might as well use the time to see something completely different!

I still haven't been to Zion but I've heard and seen good things.

Yea, I wish we could go longer, but trying to save time off for later in the year.

We go to Acadia every summer and love it, so I definitely want to expand a bit.

These are such cool travel photos and ideas. I went to Maui last July, it was my first time flying in 10 years. I'm planning on buying a house this year, so sadly it'll probably be another couple of years before I go anywhere too cool. I'm hoping I can make Costa Rica happen in a couple years though. Also really wanting to visit Iceland at some point.

My dad apparently got TSAprecheck gifted to him after flying for his work and because he bought our plane tickets it was handed down to me. After hearing terrible things about TSA, I gotta say, that was a breeze to go through.

So jealous. All I asked for Christmas was TSA precheck because I'm so tired of being stuck behind old people who have no clue how to go through security and families who have to unload everything they own on the belt while the kids wail at ear splitting volume. Nobody got it for me so did it myself, got interviewed and finger printed last week. I always thought it a yearly fee but when I saw it was $85 for 5 years I couldn't sign up fast enough.

I definitely feel like I pulled one over. I've gone through harder security going to an MLB game than I did flying internationally today haha

My tentative plans for Mexico keep getting delayed. I'm normally fine with traveling solo (domestic), but dealing with the culture shock by myself sounds intimidating.

Na Pali Coast Hike- at least to the beach. When I did it, we went to the waterfall inland from the beach which was cool but I basically had to carry my wife out after she fell there. It also took a full day to get back to the waterfall so the beach is a good turnaround point and better scenery for a hike.

We also did tubing in the dug out canals in the mountains. You kinda take a tour into the interior and see Mount Waialeale and I believe filming locations for Jurassic park and tropic thunder. I think this is the company we went through,Mountain Tubing | Kauai Backcountry Adventures. It was ok but my buddy who was with us did an atv tour that day that looked awesome.

We went to waimea canyon which is impressive. We didn't hike or really do anything but look. If you go stop by Aunty Lilikoi Passion Fruit Products.

Of course you have all the beaches, hanalei probably being the most famous.

When I went, we visited my brother-in-law and his family who lived in Kapaa at the time so I don't have places to eat/bar recommendations. Except, a shameless plug for chicken in a barrel which my sister-in-laws family owns. They smoke chicken, pork, and beef in 55 gallon drums, Chicken In A Barrel | BBQ Chicken and Ribs.

I'm going to Nashville in April. Any cool places separate from the normal touristy/country music stuff I should know about?

Tips on what to do during a layover? Traveling tomorrow for work, my direct flight got canceled due to snow and got booked on another with a 4-hour layover in Charlotte, NC.

@ellie117 does that give you enough time to head into town and get something to eat?

Eat Bojangles and look at the movie posters for films set in NC. Probably some Nascar stuff at the airport too.

Thanks for the help, actually that flight got canceled as well so I grabbed a last minute flight last night. Bojangles is nearby where I'm at in SC, may check them out. Just a fast food chain right?

Yes, just a regional fast food place. Probably not the best but can be an incredible hangover cure

I'll be in Bergen and Tromsø for the next week. Any suggestions on places to get good Norwegian food that aren't terribly expensive?

Going to Jordan next week for work/pleasure, should be fun. Only have about a monthish left in Dubai after that before going home.

Not got to much planned. Heading to London to see the tennis and Damien Lewis' play in the summer. Then a couple of days in Madrid at the tail end of the year.

Last year lucked out going to Australia twice and New Zealand, so cant complain if i have a quiet year.

Is there anyone in this thread who has been to Switzerland and would be willing to answer some questions about their trip? I'm writing an ethnicity paper for my anthropology class and studying Switzerland. Only problem is I have to interview someone, and no one that I know has ever been. I would truly, sincerely appreciate any help I can get.

I've been to Switzerland twice, but it was years ago. I'm not sure if I'd be that great of an option.

Well, to be honest with you, I'm getting desperate enough that most anything will work. The interview is a relatively small component of the overall grade, so it doesn't need to extremely extensive or detailed. Basically what I'd need is for you to speak generally about your experience in the country, recalling what sorts of things stood out to you (positively or negatively) and what you found interesting or exciting. That can pretty much be anything from speech, manners, gestures, behavior, fashion, art, transportation - really any cultural practices that were noteworthy. Does that sound like something you'd be able to do?

  25. Ken

    entrusted Prestigious

At a basic level yes. If you can't find someone else, I can help, but hopefully someone who's spent more time there can speak to you so you get better answers.
