New 750-cap venue announced they’re opening in Buffalo today. Released their initial run of shows, doesn’t looks like any of these were previously announced…

These venues seem... Kind of ambitious no? That or Kublai Khan is much bigger than I thought. Like to me there's zero way they're selling out the Roseland in Portland on a Wednesday.

    They will fill those venues

Not at all. Kublai Khan and Sunami are big hype bands at the moment in hardcore and heavy music. I wouldn't be surprised if all of these dates sold out.

You guys are forgetting that Sunami is on that bill and they headline shows and festivals on their own.

No way Kublai Khan can sell out a 1500 cap venue in Portland. A half empty Roseland is not the type of venue for this show. Should be a in a smaller, cramped space. Surprised they aren’t playing the Hawthorne lol

I think a lot of people are missing the fact that the reality of touring has shifted in the last few years, and it seems like a lot more people are going to shows than before. If band X played a 500 cap venue in 2018, band Y with a comparable amount of buzz in 2023 is probably going to be playing a 1,000 cap venue. (1,000 cap bands are playing theaters now, and so on)

This person gets it, also is why things are more expensive.

Also, hardcore has BLOWN up and KK is good meeting point between metal and hardcore so they will do well.

They opened for STYG at a venue half this size last year that didn’t sell out. STYG barely sold out a 600 cap venue here a few months ago. I don’t think things have changed that much in a year lol

The venn diagram of people that go to a KK headliner and the people that go to a Sunami headliner is almost a complete full circle. It's not like I want this tour to fail, far from it. I just see a lot of factors against it for these 1000+ cap venues. If it was a mixed genre bill (like a KK/Heart Attack Man bill or something like that) I might actually say there's a good chance of selling out or at the very least filling out quite nicely. But at this point I think anything below 1000 cap could be a sell out. But like 1000+? I wish you luck. I also just realized there's a House of Blues show on there. I REALLY wish you luck.

That tour sold out a 800 cap venue in Sac and probably 3/5ths of the crowd left after KK finished. I heard it was the same at a lot of other shows.

They've absolutely gotten bigger in the past year. Even a lot of my friends who stopped listening to heavy music a decade ago for some reason love Kublai Khan. They remind me of Hatebreed in the sense that they now have both hardcore and metal fans.
