Seeing a few of these in DC, and a few Charli ones as well. Some of these seem local, but looks like the machine can churn these touring dance nights out a lot faster than they used to.

Have some thoughts on these, but always confused why more bars don't just do these fun dance nights versus leaving it to venues that could have live musicians playing in a given night instead of DJs

 

Yeah, people got tired of Emo Nites and other nostalgia themed cash grabs and now it feels like there's one for every hot artist out there (and like 15 for Taylor Swift), not to mention Shrek Raves and other bizarre stuff like that.

 

There’s a SpongeBob rave that’s happening near me in November. I’ve never been to a rave, but I’m considering going since Tom Kenny is making an appearance lol

 

There is probably some world where the lack of a true pop canon makes it hard for someone to walk into a bar and go "this is for me", so the expectation is that you have to pay a premium to get the music/atmosphere that you truly want, versus the generic understanding of popular music you could get in a normal bar/club.

 

my local venue does those theme nights but they have their own in house DJ and they suck and refuse to actually stick to the theme

 

my local bar's karaoke sunday remains undefeated

There’s another Chappell one called Good Luck Club that’s at a venue by my apt next weekend. I actually know a couple people going ha.

 

There's a handful near me too. I do wonder if they have to license the artists' likeness to feature them so prominently like this.

My city’s best pre-covid diy punk/emo/hardcore venue has completely changed its target demographic. Now it’s almost exclusively Taylor swift & k pop dance parties. Apparently that switch has worked out well for them
