I figured you meant it in jest, but it bothered me. I appreciate you listening.

I still don't appreciate the tendency on this site to equate a band's transgressions with the quality of their music. I get that dumping on 00's era 'scene'-seque music is popular, and it's not without reason. But as someone who enjoys it, it's tough enough to deal with an artist you like being called out on some shit without your taste being called into question as well.

You should check out the better music that I listen to, like GLOSS and War On Women."

I know, right? Nothing makes me happier than knowing that the only website that keeps me up to date on the bands I enjoy will inevitably be followed by a deluge of comments about how stupid and cruel a person like me must be!

 

Preference is subjective. You like what you like, I like what I like, other people like what they like. Maybe there's some crossover, maybe there isn't. Doesn't really give anyone the right to be a dick about other people's preferences though. You can either choose to be an asshole that goes around shouting "lol look at all these people who have terrible music, they'll never be on the superior level of my musical taste." Or you can be a decent human being and say "eh, it isn't for me." Does it really make you feel that much better to tell people their music is shitty?

 

I have very diverse music taste, I like almost any genre to some extent. It's your choice to be offended by my comments.

I'm really not offended. Just confused as to why everything has to boil down to demeaning others for liking certain bands. Like I'm sure you've heard the phrase you catch more flies with honey than you would with vinegar. That seems to apply here.
