They moved one of the Hot Mulligan shows in Chicago from HoB to the Aragon Ballroom.

 

So hot right now, those mulligans

 

That's an insane leap, especially if they're keeping the 2nd show at HOB. Good for them

 

Holy shit, that's wild! I also somehow completely missed that Ben Quad was on this tour too.

Maybe the ticket prices would be worth it to just see the three openers...

 

Yeah nothing against Hot Mully, I just never got super into their stuff past the first few EPs. I'm going for just BQ and SLS.

 

Hot Mulligan are an interesting band for me. I just can't get into them. But I don't hate them, and in a way, I'm just glad they exist and are doing well. If I were maybe like, a decade younger there's a good chance they might be my favorite band. But as things stand? Just not for me.

 

My old band opened for them like 6 years ago, so it’s almost surreal to see them blow up and play large venues like that. Good for them though! Always cool seeing stuff like that

 

Exactly how I feel. Like I saw them on Sad Summer and I was like this is nice, I enjoy watching them, but then as soon as the set was over I had no desire to go home and listen to them or anything like that. Now that this is at such a big venue here I'm hoping maybe I'll be able to get a dirt cheap ticket.

It's also real funny reading articles about how bigger record labels are freaking out that they can't generate pop stars like they used to... And to see some of these smaller punk/emo/indie/whatever bands make venue leaps based on their songwriting, consistent touring, savvy social media game, etc.

This discourse is way more fun than another round of "Man, Taylor Swift tickets are so expensive!" TBH.
