What the hell, a different radio station near me just called me and told me I won another pair of social distortion tickets lol

Has it always been this easy to win radio station contests or…?

Descendents in Hermosa Beach sold out in like 10 seconds. Really wanted to go damn. Anyone know the capacity of that venue?

 

You must be one of the few dozens actually attempting to win these contests. The promoter also probably has hundreds of tix to give away if these are amphitheater shows, so maybe they're seeking you out! haha

My mom tried a few times for the Offspring / Sum 41 tour with no luck.

 

Surprisingly all but one of these are at the new 2500 cap venue here and all of them except this one that just went on sale have been sold out haha

 

one time I called the radio station to ask about a song from a local band they had been playing and when the guy picked up the phone he said "name the Beastie Boys song that's playing on the air right now to win" and I confusingly said "Paul Revere" and wound up winning tickets to see the Beasties on the 5 Burroughs tour

I wasn't listening to the radio and had no idea they were running a contest at the moment I called, so I just randomly guessed a Beastie Boys song

 

Saint Rocke? Place is TINY, couldn't be more than maybe 300?

That’s amazing. I had a hot streak in 2019 where I won tickets to I think like, 6-7 shows

 

Hell yeah, that rules. I always for some reason convinced myself they’d be super hard to win, so I never bothered even trying until like a month ago lol

 

Thread is giving me flashbacks to 2001-02 when it was like "Caller number 92 wins tickets to the sold out Puddle Of Mudd show at Roseland Ballroom"

 

The only time I've been involved in a radio contest is when a friend won and I thought he was fucking with me so I tried to pull the phone to my ear to hear to make sure he got through, and then he got hung up on for not answering a question quick enough. I still thought he was joking till they played it back and you could hear me in the background trying to grab the phone. Felt bad man :(

 

Back in 08, I got a call from the biggest newspaper in Toronto and they told me I won front row tickets to see Lenny Kravitz. She was like “are you excited or what?!” and I was like “I don’t think I even entered this.” So she was like “well do you wanna go??” and I said uhh alright I guess. So my brother and I went and with one song left in his set one of his reps came up to us at the barrier and said “please follow me for your private meet and greet with Lenny” and we were like whatttt. So we follow the guy, get taken to a private media room in the arena, and half an hour later Lenny shows up shirtless, fresh out of a shower, and this camera man comes out of nowhere snapping pictures of us.

Next day the front page of the entertainment section in that paper says “TORONTO SUN READER AND LENNY KRAVITZ SUPERFAN” with our photo lmao

I am neither of those things and still don’t know what happened there

 

Must have trouble selling those VIP packages or something. hilarious.
