Stephen Malkamus would be psyched about this tour:

No shade to STP and their new singer, as they have more than enough right to carry on with someone new but I have just had no interest in seeing that version. Weiland was really an irreplaceable frontman.

Yeah, the new guy (David Gutt) is pretty solid and their first album with him wasn’t bad. But nothing to write home about. You haven’t missed much tbh. Def not the same without Scott

Stone Temple Pilots with Scott was one of my first concerts in 2009. I went with my high school friend only knowing Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart and had an awesome time despite only knowing that song, haha.

I feel like the DeLeo brothers, for all their talent, could not find someone to match their knack of big bombastic riffs with awesome psychedelic hooks like Weiland did. They tried with another singer in 1997 (Talk Show), with Richard Patrick of Filter (Army Of Anyone), with Chester Bennington and then even with ANOTHER dude and they all failed to compare to the work with Weiland.

CRJ opening for boygenius is wild to me. I knew they were big- I just didn’t think it was that big. I kinda figured the average radio listener only knew about them as “Phoebe Bridgers and friends”

I think people know of boygenius as more than just Phoebe and friends, at least the people going to a boygenius show.

Interesting, Coachella has the best festival grounds, so could be good.

Sounds interesting. I wonder if it’ll be a metal/hard rock version of that Desert Trip fest they had a few years back

    Leak seems to indicate that…

    Metallica / Iron Maiden
    GnR / AC/DC
    Tool / RATM

Time for Tool & Ratm to finally bust out a live version of that track they hated and removed from the Judgement Night soundtrack

I also just want to be a fly on the wall when Brian Johnson and Axl Rose run into each other

Damn. Good thing on Angelmaker for kicking them off the tour.

    Edit: from the article:

"Things went downhill quickly, from reports the guitarist received throughout the night. “They started the show with a ‘new vocalist’. Half way through their set the band’s old vocalist came on to finish the set since the new vocalist didn’t know the old songs (this is what we were told). This was the first thing this guy said to a sold out room of people:

‘Thinking about killing yourself tonight? Good. Do it. ’”

    What a shitshow

Yup, the demo has been online forever, well late 90s when mp3s started spreading more rapidly... it's honestly not good, I can see why they never finished it

I wish we got a NYC or NYC-area Boygenius only date instead of the Reset festival. Given you can still easily buy tickets to that festival, I think they overestimated their drawing power.
