Real answer: I think it’s because there was rumblings of a Weezer tour for quite some time, so our collective curiosities were high. And since it was announced later than we assumed, speculation continued to grow

I believe that is incorrect, all the venues I have looked at list a general onsale on Friday.

 

buy a ticketmaster gift card and apply it at checkout so it doesn't actually charge the card. also, if that fails, you can say it was accidentally charged through PayPal/Apple pay/etc using the wrong card and write a check to reimburse them. you probably won't get in trouble as long as you don't do it often.
