Sure it’s not a crime to talk at shows, but it’s a matter of respect.

 

then that’s fine, i can understand it being a respect thing. so at most it’s disrespectful but comparing it to sexual harassment was…a take lol

 

I mean, I even said it was not the same thing, but rather an example of how far people take the "I paid so I can do what I want" mentality

 

sure, but why? obviously no one would say that the next logical step from talking to a friend is sexually harassing the performing artist

talking to your friend or whatever during a set is what it is, but harassing the performer whether it be cat calling or simply yelling @ them to perform songs, or even the other example earlier of yelling as they say thank you etc is a different story

 

Talking is one of the reasons I hate being in the back/on the side at club shows. People there are generally lest invested/engaged which is why you get the side conversations. People up front are there for a reason and tend to be bigger fans thus more engaged. As someone who is turning 40 this year (yikes!) I no longer have the motivation and time to show up at doors and stand 2nd/3rd row for 4 hours so I have to deal with more talkers but, yeah, it's fucking annoying.

On a positive note, I will also be seeing The Beths on Thu and will report back on the amount of chit chat.

 

My worst experience with this was seeing American football at shaky knees in 2015 and some dude next to me was mouthing all the lead lines to the songs. I wanted to punch him in the mouth
